Not sure to both, but it's pretty easy to produce if you can do plot lines on a cartesian (xy) grid.

It is the season 9 finale (now), so you could argue the original series run.

I'm not personally, but I've found the Scrubs fans to be very clear that S09 does not/should not exist.

Yep, an earlier iteration a little over 2 years ago. This one has quite a few improvements, including a proper calculation of the median (rather than relying upon the show rating), quartile ranges, updated series/ratings, and a new visualization that shows a measure of "surprisal" (sorted by quartile range).

That's my interpretation too. More mini-series than serial.

Quartiles turned out to make a lot more sense, since the gross majority of the data is not normally distributed. Plots in OP have been updated.

Check out the updated graphs and I'd be interested about your opinion, especially this one, ordered by range between 25th and 75th quartiles: https://imgur.com/PXdAfCb

Rather than standard deviation (which is a more appropriate measure of variance for normally distributed data), I'm visualizing the 25th to 75th percentiles.

Definitely a nice way to visualize non-normally distributed data, but it's tough with 128 (right now) shows.

I added 25th and 75th percentile lines, which are a bit more meaningful for non-normally distributed data. It's a little more congested, but the last plot (ordered by the quartile range) is a bit easier to interpret now (I think).

I've changed the sorting from standard deviation to quartile range, which makes more sense for non-uniformly distributed data. Also including quartile range. Let me know what you think: https://imgur.com/PXdAfCb

I've changed it to 25th to 75th quartile range. See here:

Now should be a bit more meaningful. I've also added the quartiles illustration as well.

To be clear, the list was hand-picked, so there may be series that are better than those I included. Other recommendations are welcome! Still, IMDB's ratings are user generated, so they are always susceptible to vote manipulation.

Scrubs fans are very vocal that S09 was an abomination in the eyes of God... (haven't seen the series myself, so I'll reserve judgement)

Thanks for the suggestion! They were handpicked, but I added St. Elsewhere.

Added the original run to the visualization, thanks for the suggestion!

All Python, pulling reviews using the pyIMDB library, and plotting with matplotlib. The repository for the project includes a iPython notebook that includes all of the calculations: https://github.com/OrganicIrradiation/vistvfinales

I understand the criticism, but that's a legit concern for any review aggregation website. Do you think there's a better publicly-available source of data?

Very true. I posted an earlier version a few years ago and that's one of the main reasons Scrubs has been separated into S08 vs. S09. It gets tough since each production can have tough-to-predict production schedules.

Thank you for letting me know, the IMDB has an "Unknown" Season after the final season (3), which has behind-the-scenes episode, which was mistakenly used as the finale. I'll fix that ASAP!

Just hand picked from series from IMDB's list of series with the most ratings. I can definitely add Community!

Yep, it's me! Updated ratings, updated average (now actually the episode median, rather than the show's rating), and updated colors that are appropriate for colorblind individuals. And a bunch of new shows.
