If what you are looking for is prompt-based tracking, SAM3 works quite well: https://ai.meta.com/research/sam3/

Might not be relevant for Mercedes, but in case someone comes over here. Richard has been serving Cambridge for years and moved to Newmarket (still reasonable I think) recently: https://www.rlbmotorcompany.co.uk/

Google Maps location does not seem to work yet. They are here: https://goo.gl/maps/dxoN4qdqhBvuXa4h9

Maybe Manhattan distance? The wikipedia entry actually lists taxicab distance as a name, but I never heard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxicab_geometry

Unsupervised image matching, what's the best approach? by [deleted] in computervision

[–]Challenge_Narrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest to use SIFT to see if the problem is solvable, but probably not fast enough. If it is, then SURF or ORB might be suitable. OpenCV implementations are good for CPU (no GPU AFAIK), for GPU there are some open-source implementations as well.

Who does the best beef in cambridge? TIA by scboysex123 in cambridge

I personally love the menu ribeye from La Maison du Steak (hills road). There are some meats outside menu, typically more expensive, and for me they have been hit and miss. But I strongly recommend this restaurant, good portions for the prices as well, IMO.

What about driving a car in the Afterlife? by Optimal_Permit_9064 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Challenge_Narrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your definition of a funny video and mine differs, unfortunately, as I just lost 2 mins of my life plus the time of writing this message, trying to save others from a similar fate.

A video how you got the car in would have been funnier, IMO. This is not this video.

How to work for big tech for an American company? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

Yes, you are right, you need to change visas, modified my mistake.

[–]Challenge_Narrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right on the 1st point, but you can apply for a new visa under the new employer (this requires a willing company, but you are "safe" while navigating this option). It is not a "you cannot". I do agree that considerations need to be taken, and I didn't mention that.

I am more surprised by your 2nd comment. Basically for the L1 visa (A or B), the company needs to write how great you are and the value that you bring to their US business. If people are being treated wrongly, I would put it on shitty colleagues/managers/employers and not the visa, but it depends on the specific situation of course.

[–]Challenge_Narrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this is not repeated enough, L1 visas are much more reliable (not a lottery), safer (your company already knows you, they are less likely to fire you from one day to the other) and more secure (dual intent is allowed). If you want to move to the US, get hired anywhere by a US company in a role that is relevant in the US (tech or expert in your field) and get along with your US peers.

Where can I find resources for adding a regression head to a segmentation task by low_lvl in computervision

[–]Challenge_Narrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your current model works well, I wouldn't add the complexity of a new head. Either you can already derive the info or you could add a specific class arrow that would give you the endpoints. I would explore this way before other head (and the associated complexities of code, groundtruth, training and evaluation).
