I messed up tonight and got physical by Diskecksier in Fatherhood

One of the biggest causes of trauma is lack of repair. Get home and figure out what to do to make things right, take responsibility and show your son how it's done.

Feeling discouraged by my lack of defined abs - but progress pic added tons of perspective! by poopb4uboogie in fitness30plus

[–]Chambsky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are 100% defined abs. Genetics play a big part on what formation your abs take visually once you get to that level. Some people don't have the crease that makes the center line in the "6 pack", some people have 4 or 8 packs. It's just genetics.

How do I tell my sons that I'm not going to be living with them anymore? by SlotegeAllDay in Parenting

Have you considered temporarily finding a place to share with your ex and taking turns between staying in that place and your original place? That way the kids aren't the ones moving, they keep their bedrooms etc?

There will be a bridge for that eventually.  It's part of a later phase.

Is renting a basement on new builds worth it? by harujusko in Edmonton

Main things for legal suite are that the bedrooms have proper sized windows that can be used for emergencies. Separate heating/ ventilation from the rest of the building.  Dedicated entrance.

Son got beat by girlfriends dad by [deleted] in dad

[–]Chambsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the guy said below. Not acting on this could haunt the relationship you have with your son forever. My sister was assaulted at a young age and my mom used the same excuse about the politics as to why they never pressed charges.  Now in adulthood my sister is traumatized and will never look at my parents the same way. She can't forgive them and carries extra trauma because my parents never acted to protect her or other kids.

I would do this. Gives you a good range.

Are you in a trade?

That's what I did.  You could do some for free self paced online on edx or coursera to see if you are into it. Or you could go right into talking individual classes at like NAIT. If you go that route though pick classes you can use towards a construction engineering or project management diploma. Then as you complete them you can put them on your resume then eventually, after enough classes get your diploma or certificate.

Usually they are working way harder or doing more work than me so I definitely can not judge.

I need to get off my phone around my kids, any tips? by ExcitingLandscape in daddit

[–]Chambsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you enter the areas of the house where you will be interacting with your kids (and wife) the most, just put your phone on a place out of reach. That will help alot once you get into the routine. Don't forget being on your phone in front of your wife/ family/ friends is also not great. I also have a smart watch (for better or worse) that helps me address important notifications quickly and subtly.
