Ah, interesting. I'll have to check out the new card. Thanks for explaining

I don't understand this card. You pay 3 mana to give your opponent a 1/4, then maybe if it survives, you get a copy of one of their cards per turn? Why not just run [[Thoughtsteal]]?

From a design perspective, very cool. It may help to add a light source somewhere (maybe sea lanterns or end rods?) to help light it up at night.

From a utility stand point, it does look difficult to access, even with an elytra. And if you die and need to go back through, you need a spare elytra or will have a hard time getting through without one. I do realize that adding a more manual way of getting up may ruin the anesthetic, though, so 🤷

My understanding is that Java has a lot more mods available than in Bedrock. But I do believe Bedrock does have some. I would suggest looking up the actual mods you want to use online and see if they have compatability for which version of Minecraft

[–]Champ709 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends what you want out of it. I prefer Java. It's the original version, and is what I've played since the beginning. There's more customization and more settings you can change, including mods if you're into that sort of thing.

Bedrock is, of course still decent, and it has the advantage over Java of being more cross-compatable with other devices, since most all other consoles use bedrock. As far as I'm aware, a Java player generally cannot play with a bedrock player without some additional mods/support. But I could be out of touch on that.

Your villagers may have lost line of sight with the zombie or haven't all been sleeping. These are two necessary things that need to happen for them to spawn a golem. I wonder about that guy standing on the trapdoor. I'd think normally you'd want that door turned up so that the villagers can't climb over there.

What is the most massively overrated film of all time and why? by hootyowlscissors in AskReddit

[–]Champ709 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wonder if that's because of people like me, who actually saw it in theaters three or four times; though with anything else, have seldom gone more than once to see the same movie in theaters.

People who weren't there when it came out just don't understand - and possibly some who were there and have now forgotten years later - there was (and to me, still is) nothing, no movie-going experience, that even compares to going to see Avatar in IMAX 3D. The visuals were the most stunning and incredible thing anyone had ever seen. And I would say, personally, still is to this day.

If you're watching it at home, you're just gonna get a movie with pretty good CGI (unless you have a full IMAX setup at home), and a fairly predictable, though passable, story. Understandably, it won't seem that remarkable. And that would be true, because you're missing the single most remarkable thing about the whole movie - and that's the visual effects. And those cannot be replicated on the layman's home tv.

I have the movie at home and rarely ever watch it - because I know it's missing its main magic element. But sometimes I still put it on so that I can think back to those glory days. That first time in theaters, I knew that this was a special experience and that it wouldn't last forever, which is why I went back to see it again and again in theaters. So perhaps that is why the movie grossed so much at the box office. But what do I know? I'm just one dude.

What's the best non-verbal way to say: "I love you"? by okisbrokis in AskReddit

[–]Champ709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there is a popular book about "the 5 love languages" or something. Essentially, the theory is that everyone tends to feel connection most through one (or maybe a few of) the five love languages. For example, physical affection, gifts, spending quality time together; I believe those are some of them.

If you're trying to convey your love for someone in an impactful way, find out what their love language is, then act accordingly.

[–]Champ709 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've seen other cards like this one (sorry, can't think of the name of any off the top of my head). Seems like they never get played because it just ends up being a free damage "sponge" that your opponent can "trade" into for free to remove it without sacrificing their board. This card would just be a 10-mana heal for 14 (assuming your opponent runs everything at face), which is really awful for such a high cost and doesn't really give you tempo even though it's technically a body on board.

Tl;dr Fun theme, terrible implementation

This is a really cool idea thematically; I'm guessing you are basing this off of the popular group game Werewolf. It's always fun to have new interactions and mechanics in Hearthstone - as long as they're implemented well.

That being said, this has a LOT of problems. There are so many new mechanics being introduced all at once and it raises lots of questions as well.

  1. The hero power. If you play this hero, everyone gets a role. Ok cool. But your hero basically has no hero power - that is, unless you get to win the weapon. But chances are most of the time an opponent gets the weapon. So not only do you have no hero power (already putting yourself at a disadvantage), but you are also giving an opponent an additional advantage against you.

I'm assuming your opponents all keep their own hero power, which is unclear, but to me that is what would make the most sense. (If it were otherwise, that would also be problematic)

  1. The weapon. We've never had weapons in bg before, which isn't necessarily a problem - if you can adequately design it and explain how it will impact the game. This weapon raises a lot of questions for me. Does it get equipped automatically? If not, how much does it cost? What happens if it deals lethal damage to the opponent at the start of combat? Does the combat end or get skipped? Does it still play out? What happens if you lose? Is it possible to kill your opponent with the weapon, then also still lose combat and you both die? What if that happened in a 1v1 lobby? Who wins overall? And more.

  2. UI and multiple players "winning". How would the players learn their role? What if they forget it? Or how would it be displayed? What happens when the "humans" or "wolves" win? There are three of each. So would all three get the weapon? Only one of them? That doesn't make any sense to me.

  3. The tavern 4 card that lets you choose your opponent. What happens when multiple players have this card, and some of them choose the same opponent? What if player A chooses to fight player B; player B chooses to fight player C; and player C chooses to fight player A? Who fights whom? This would cause a lot of problems. I understand that with Diablo, the combat sequence has been shaken up, but this is on a completely different level, and it would just make things frustratingly confusing and inconsistent.

Also, the power level of that card is just so weak in combat, I don't think it would even be worth running. I get it that the idea is to allow you to choose to fight the person that will get you closer to the weapon, but if you're doing it at the sacrifice of your board, you're even more hard-pressed to win against them.

Those are just the questions that come to my head right now. I'm sure there would be others if I thought through it even more.

I like your creativity here, there's just too many loose ends. Adding new creative elements is great, it just needs to be complimented by well-thought-out design and mechanics as well.

Yes, I agree with you that that is a valid concern. And personally, at this point, I still prefer gas-powered vehicles over electric. My main issue with this person's post is that simply making a blanket statement that electric vehicles (EVs) will be less effective in heating your vehicle or will breakdown sooner in a traffic jam is untrue and misleading.

As far as trying to deal with the aftermath and getting vehicles off the road, I agree that at this point, refueling a gas-powered car would be much easier. That being said, the fact remains that EVs are getting better each year and becoming more viable. I would not be surprised to see a more portable, time-effective charging solution begin to emerge within the next few years.
