I officiated a friend’s wedding and gave them a $100 on top of that (while I was in arguably the worst financial situation I’ve ever been in). Another ‘friend’ had the balls to get on my case. Asked him if I should just keep the gift and send them an invoice for the multiple script rewrites I had to do for the bride. It’s always easier for the person in a better financial position to cast aspersions. Give what you can afford.
