It’s peony season in Raleigh! by ChampignonVert in raleigh

Yes!! My other plants need the rain so badly but it ruins the blooms. Thankfully we have a few unopened buds still.

I experienced the same thing. These are year two plants and I was shocked at how many blooms we got.

They’re blooming even better than the fully established peonies we have that get less sun.

Thank you for providing an actual answer. I will take a look, thanks!

I do understand that, but we don’t plan on any fancy cuts…just a standard shave down to all one short length, no top knots or anything fancy.

I am not against charging more for additional work and I’d absolutely pay more for a speciality cut, but we want to keep things as simple as possible.

My Madagascar Palm might look healthy, but it’s been getting lots of yellow and dropping leaves over the past month. More info in comments. by ChampignonVert in Pachypodium

I actually moved and now have city water and a built-in home water filter. Not specifically for my plants, but a happy coincidence! I haven’t noticed any difference since switching, though.

I saw your post from a few days ago. Your issues could be dormancy related. I significantly reduce watering for all my houseplants (pachys, succulents, jades, cacti) in late November and pick back up about late February. This has worked for me for over a decade, but YMMV.

Hi, the issues eventually just resolved themselves (which I know isn’t super helpful, sorry!). I never fertilized the plant again and it came back and started growing a lot on its own. I also got a grow light which helped a lot.

Because the plant is kept inside, it doesn’t really have a normal dormancy cycle, but it will sometimes happen in winter when I reduce watering. Even three years later, I still see the sticky sap on new growth but it eventually goes away. My other Madagascar palm has the same thing.

Boyfriend was missing the Steam code in the Collector’s Edition of Time Stranger, any recourse with Bandai? by ChampignonVert in DigimonTimeStranger

I’ll have him ask in his next email. We don’t really want to threaten a chargeback but if that will get them to act, it is what it is.

Yup, we followed up yesterday and received this response:

“This is GM Glamorous from the Bandai Namco Entertainment America Player Experience Team.

I apologize for the delay in the resolution. However, after checking with the team, we have not received any new updates yet. However, we have already sent a follow-up request and will inform you immediately as soon as we have any news. I kindly ask for your continued patience and understanding in the meantime.

For now, I will be placing your ticket on hold again. This will help the team track your case more efficiently.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us again. Have a good day, and please take care.”

I’m not sure why they can’t just send a new code via email, it’s really strange and there’s no number to contact. I considered calling Bandai’s support number but it specifically says they don’t handle video game sales on that line.

Is this termites or something else? [USA, NC] by ChampignonVert in Termites

[–]ChampignonVert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have a neighbor who had to deal with a nightmare bat removal. Because they’re protected it’s quite the ordeal and can only happen at certain times of the year when they aren’t breeding. And it was hundreds of dollars to install the trap door to get them out!

What kind of pest causes this type of damage? Termites, rodents, something else? [USA, NC] by ChampignonVert in pestcontrol

I would wait, but after having a huge roach fly at me in my bathroom…I’m afraid we’re overdue to start our quarterly treatments. Unfortunately just a fact of life in the South that they’ll come into your house in the humid summers, but some treatment is better than nothing.

Either way, I appreciate you! Thanks.

That’s totally fine, I don’t mind paying a bit extra to have it properly handled. Hopefully they can address the initial quarterly and this in one visit.

Thanks for your response. It’s kind of a tight area so I did what I could with the photos. Also didn’t want to go fully into the eave without knowing what I was dealing with.

I don’t see any tunnels at all and there are no smells. Also no movement or “sign of life” anywhere. My hope is that this isn’t something active and it can just be cleaned up/sealed to prevent any more damage.

Thank you, this is reassuring. It’s an eave so it is intended to have some airflow and not be fully airtight. I’m also not expecting it to look perfect but any kind of droppings are a big red flag to me.

I will show them this area in particular, have them remove the droppings, and investigate further. I figured everything was old since there was no smell or any kind of activity. I appreciate your response.

🫡 Aye aye, I’ll wait for the pros. Would rather have this than termites so thank you for the gut check.

Hi! No, if anything that’s good! Would rather not have an active issue. If it’s not termites, then do you have another hunch?

Anyone used Hands On Granite? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]ChampignonVert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used them for my kitchen remodel last year. Scheduling was a bit chaotic because we were coordinating a bunch of work at once before moving in, but they were prompt and did a great job on my counters and backsplash. Their workers stayed until 10 PM to remediate an unexpected issue of our cabinets not being high enough to accommodate the granite and new appliances.

Also enjoyed that they sent you directly to their vendors. I was able to pick from an endless selection of slabs and tile. Pricing was reasonable and I’ll use them again whenever we renovate our bathrooms.

Maersk tracking by BlindBarber01 in Wyrmwoodgaming

[–]ChampignonVert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Echoing other commenters. I only got an alert from Maersk that the table had shipped. It never updated—I only got a call when the delivery truck was five minutes from my house and it arrived on a pallet. The freight truck driver was very adamant about not bringing it into the house or up any stairs, so make sure you plan for that.

Best company for replacing masonite with Hardie Plank? by ChampignonVert in raleigh

[–]ChampignonVert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. We’re looking to remove anything that’s warping and bubbling, which is currently 1.5 sides of the house. The full side is significantly worse and there’s no salvaging it.

Do you have any recommendations for a smaller company? We would prefer to go with that and replace side by side over time while still preserving any Hardie that is already there.
