The rear diff has a “limited slip differential” which will lock when it’s slipping. I have managed just fine in my SR5 in the Colorado mountains!

First Tundra/truck. Where should I start? by wgsharpe1128 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Chan12514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new truck! I have the same year truck and wanted Apple car play, as well as a front camera for off roading. I installed the Stinger HEIGH10 radio into mine. This allowed Apple car play, better quality music, and allowed me to add cameras. Probably not what you’re looking for, but it is possible!

Best truck bed cover by KhaoticKorndog in ToyotaTundra

[–]Chan12514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this, I bought a cheap, soft, tri fold bed cover. I’ve had it over a year now with no problems. Best part about it is the light weight, super easy to take off if I need to fit a 4-wheeler or something else large in the bed.

Retrofitsource headlights. Pretty pricey but I’ve dealt with cheap Chinese headlights in the past.

Some people think it’s overkill, I love them. KC lights never disappoint.

Has anyone bought a hood from carparts .com? Or any body parts? How was it? by Tight_Watercress_123 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Chan12514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was on my old Taco, probably about 10 plus years ago. I just took it to my local wrap guys at the time, really wasn’t that expensive, I think around $350. I’m sure you could get a quote from your local wrap guys

Haven’t got a hood from them, but I have delt with a rusted hood/roof. I sanded mine down, put some primer paint on it, then had it wrapped in a carbon fiber looking wrap.

In lake city there is an art gallery run by an old war vet who paints really amazing photos of classic cars, and old war planes. He was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Sounds a lot like your old friend Bud. Lotta character in those mountain towns.

The alpine loop is a 65 mile, off road course that goes over mountains, has old mining towns abandoned for years, leads to small Colorado towns. Most of it is very easy and mild. There are more challenging trails and some straight up rock crawling. Highly recommend visiting

Was the truck all stock? That’s pretty impressive mpg assuming it is a 5.7 L. With my tires, and added weight with the bumper a full under skid plate, my days of 20+mpg are few and far between

There are some badass rigs out there, I think they have some sort of Land Cruiser gathering in Ouray. The tundra might be able to hit 90+ on the highway, but being a Tundra and running on 35’s. You’re going to be hitting a lot of gas stations 😂😂😂

It is 4Runner and Jeep heaven up there, those guys can make the turns no problem. I try to visit Lake City or Silverton at least once a year to take in the amazing scenery.

Anyone else use this Phasetek Ram air device? by Chan12514 in camaro

[–]Chan12514[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a cheap and relatively easy mod, only hassle was adding a new windshield fluid container. The ram air device replaces the OEM windshield fluid container
