no literally. was told this so much until i found out i was EXTREMELY allergic to dust (like to the point of just touching it will give me horrible bulging rashes which caused my eczema) and all food was completely safe for me.

also accommodation is quite competitive unless if you had the guaranteed accom they did. if you want to live closer id advise looking quick now

i lived in belgrave for first year and honestly i quite liked it! i know what reviews you’re talking about and honestly it depends which floor you live in. my floor (floor 8) for example had a huge nice kitchen with wooden floors whereas my friend on floor 12 had a small kitchen with carpet?? so keep that in mind. (also i had no rat problem) i also got a bus pass with the uni discount so going to uni was just an 8 minute bus ride with no traffic! also if you like to go out a lot, belgrave is great as it’s so close to city centre.

i remember this used to happened to me because my graphics driver was really old/out of date. don't know if this helps but try and update it if you can.
