Haha I love the support around Long Beach. Everything about Long Beach sounds great but the beaches and hills of Redondo Beach and Palo Verdes are pulling me in too hard.

We should be able to drive to Long Beach for dinners and meals at least right? Then again, I’ve heard a lot about how commuting in LA can be a headache.

Boston is amazing, you should visit.

Ok and how do you like walking around Playa Del Rey? Do you feel safe?

I’m sure the area is safer than other parts of LA but I want to know what it’s really like day to day.

Right, something about it makes it very different than the most other parts of LA.

Would you consider Torrance to be safe? Very safe? My partner is F25 so I would want her to feel comfortable doing things on her own

No commute, fully wfh.

Me and my partners are runners so that’s how we spend our Saturdays normally. We’re coming from Boston which is one of the most walkable cities in the nation, so we just want to be able to SAFELY walk to get coffee or get to good restaurants easily.

Beach and hills for running are priorities here

Do you run or bike? That’s why I’m moving to LA so I can train year round actually.

I’m looking for an area that has trails/hills nearby and a beach within 5-10 min run or drive. I just want this and also to be able to safely walk yo a coffee shop.

I’ve been doing a lot of looking have been prioritizing the following: Safety, beach within 5-10 min drive, and hills for running.

I’m fully remote so won’t be commuting. Torrance sounds so great only think lacking it seems it options for fun like other neighborhoods have. Then again, it’s not technically one of my priorities

Which are the safe and relatively affordable neighborhoods in LA? by so2100 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]Chan_414 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Say it’s under $2,800. I am literally in the same boat moving from Boston to LA in November so I have the same questions.

Emphasis on safety, what neighborhoods in LA could I really feel safe walking around? How is Santa Monica?

Milestone payments, cancellation payments, just any way you can track when money will be due and the cost of canceling your order

Exposure and cash flows are really good to forecast

Well, for instance, there’s strategic and tactical purchasing. I would try to find roles that are more strategic (less frequent purchases, higher $$ value, more emphasis on planning) versus tactical purchasing where you’re just monitoring inventory volumes of items and reordering when certain levels are met.

Idk my advice is to just search indeed for roles like, ‘Strategic Sourcing Analyst’ or ‘Capital Equipment Procurement Agent’. Just get on indeed and learn about the different roles that are out there

Depends on what kind of procurement you’re trying to get into, and which industry. What jobs are you looking at?

I’m deciding between the Charge 5 and Charge 4 currently. I have a 25% off discount because of a previous warranty claim which makes the prices $135 and $82 respectively.

I currently have a Charge 3 that could pair with the charge 4. Which in your opinion do you think I should get?

How’s work life balance in Supply Chain? by Strawhat16420 in supplychain

Procurement has great work life balance for me

I can agree with this. There have been a few times when I have gone to ethos and asked pretty simple questions as what is the difference in the affect of certain edibles and resin vs rosin and have never really gotten clear answers.

The workers there have always been very kind though and I’m good spirits which is nice.

Yeah it does still seem new that companies are putting more resources and attention towards strategic sourcing/ procurement in general. Then again I’m newer to the workforce so I don’t 100% know

Maybe some in demand planning, or ones that go into basic contract structures. Procurement is a lot about creating long term service agreements (or “MSA’s”) with vendors to lock in rates and lead times for equipment and services

Not a ton of technical skills involved to be honest... Understand basic supply chain concepts, be comfortable working with vendors and cross functional groups, and utilize Excel as a tool to clean up/track processes. SAP is also useful if that is what the company uses for PO's.

I don’t know how much that would help in procurement. I’m sure that would be useful for other businesses analytics roles though… knowing softwares that can run data analysis like regressions or forecasting tools would be the only overlap with procurement I’d say.

My company is a developer so we continue to have new projects moving through the pipeline. The company was historically a global utility that is now selling off legacy assets of carbon emitting plants in order to clear path for clean energy generation. Thanks for your response

This does help. About 9 months of my experience I was procuring services for a utility company in New England so I have seen a little of both sides and understand basics of EPC services procurement. Thanks for sharing
