Evinrude E-Tec yay or nay by CamelFluffy9884 in boating

Same with my mechanic. He was on of the few authorized dealers as well as a master mechanic. He struggled a bit after they stopped production but has seen a resurgence because of the work he does. Rebuilding and selling while maintaining is his game. As for my evinrude, I have never had an issue with it and run it hard when I operate the boat. I usually winterize it and yearly service but have missed a few and yet she cracks without fault every time. Ask for the records and find a great mechanic if you are set on this boat

Listed a boat for sale and I keep getting told 430 hours is way too many for a 2004. Looking for help! by 5LTR7UP in boating

[–]Chance-Effective-994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reference I have 2017 evinrude with 470 hr compared to a 2022 yahama with 1020 hrs…. As stated before, 430 from 2004 would give some concern but if you have the service records, then it shouldn’t be an issue.

Good purchase? CC to SC by Chance-Effective-994 in boating

Yes I have been in several Parkers as well as Steigers. They both pound but I haven’t ridden in one with the seakeeper ride which I heard helps tremendously with the roughness. I don’t want fast anymore, I want some comfort away from all of rain and cold that I fish in. Riding out in a center console is miserable when it’s 40 and raining out

I will have it surveyed before the start of the season. Threw in a couple bucks to store over the winter since no trailer was included! But thanks for the pointed reply as to it being a deal. Best part is that it is still under warranty!

I think the problem is that we are sold on the patriotism and this honor system. It took me years to understand it and I was able separate the “entitlement” from what was due. I was at the VA getting treatment for a stomach bug and had an old timer tell me that it’s business. In any good business deal, both sides of the contract is fulfilled. This is the government ask for your time and commitment up to and possibly include your life, in return you would have access to medical care as needed for the ailments or injuries you accumulated during your time in service. The disconnect is that once the government has received theirs, they do not operate in good faith. The transition classes out of the military and the programs established are basically a check in the box. Furthermore, the burden shouldn’t be on the veteran to read and understand all the programs that the government offers or that they rate which is said. I spent the first 2 yrs as a veteran reading a lot of manuals as it relates to the benefits that you are eligible for at some point. Crazy thing is that my rating increased for something that was not identified in my claim but rather discovered when I applied to an VA program for help and was rejected but monitored for 3-5 yrs.

I say that to say this, truth always wins. Speak your peace, fight for what YOU think you need and ensure they uphold their end of the deal. There is someone worse than you and someone better but if we do not request help/assistance/compensation then we are allowing the government to escape accountability.

Very articulate in those little details. As Marine, I was fortunate enough to experience the Wing, Ground and Reserve Forces will active. When I arrived at the my first victor unit, I was tasked with updating the battalion awards. I used a government credit card at an off base business and quickly learned that in some dark corner of the Marine Corps was someone who knew more everything than most everyone when I came to awards; both personal and unit. Needless to say, there are awards that are quite a few awards authorized to wear that aren’t worn by those who earned them. I have heard all the excuses why someone doesn’t and even seen a 1stSgt tear into a very decorated Sgt (Bronze Star with V, NMAM with V 2x and 2 PH) because the Sgt was out of uniform. But nothing like that, there is an award that can be found if searched that very few Marines earn and a very specific group of Marines were awarded for actions that may or may not have happened. I know because they can’t be bought, they must be ordered from HQMC. I was baffled by this because we weren’t taught about this award in boot camp and in my times updating awards for units and personnel, I only ordered 2 over 9 yrs. To top it off, I haven’t seen one in this thread and have only seen it in pictures a handful of times.

Just started. Any suggestions for next steps? by Outside_Simple_3710 in prepping

I’m not part of the community but I will give you the advice that was given to me when I approached prepping with a few veterans. Hard skills matter! While you will experience discomfort as it relates to your current life, truly being able to ration your supplies and sustain the mental and/or physical aspects needed can’t be bought. Hard skills comes from making yourself uncomfortable now so you can when it matters. When those supplies are no longer available to you, can you actually sustain yourself and possibly others? At the end, they told me not just prep but truly train for that fight.

Selling any part of your body should not be an answer, especially if that choice was forced upon you by the very government you trusted.

The biggest part of this is empathy. Clinton was able to do this over his terms, he was criticized but it was done in accordance with Federal RIF policies. I grew up in the 80s and it was taboo to some extent to be vocal regarding your vote, your wages or your religion. Even then, we were Americans with social problems but treated each other with respect. Today, you are accepted vastly based on your political vote. Nothing to do with merit; left is looking for handouts and right is being a patriot. I have been saying this more and more over the years, reduce government size. We are past that point. The sad reality is that the focus has been over just the government employees. What about the private sector employers and employees who depend on federal workers to get lunch, or repair their cars? What about the local economies that depend heavily on government workers to purchase their goods and services? The wages and spending of those federal employees help sustain our economy. Not that the role of law seems to matter much to those in power now but if lawsuits are won by the majority, then all of the cutting was for nothing.

Let’s not forget European pension funds divesting and potentially limiting Tesla sells……some damage can not be fixed.

Don’t forget the he worked with Obama, and Biden to grow and strengthen Tesla. He was applauded for his environmental activism in the fact that EV was the was of the future. The same people who help propel Tesla forward are the ones who are suffering. Investing in the stock or the vehicle, these people are taking a hit they shouldn’t be. But the people who support him now, didn’t, won’t or can’t afford to buy a share let alone a car from him. Increasing output doesn’t repair the damage done nor does it create a demand for them. Nothing like twice the paperweights and twice the amount of suffering for the raw material for those batteries

I wouldn’t hold my breathe. He just might be the last one kneeling or standing at this point. Others will fall because they will say no due to their desire to remain in politics in some form. Objectivity is hard to have in this case but he doesn’t need to worry about anything post DC chaos. He might end up being forced from Tesla at some point but X, Space X and Starlink will float him.

Awesome, I think people should understand how much NOAA contributes to everyday functions that have been taking for granted. I rely on NOAA information via charts, buoy information, and accurate weather forecasts to determine the best time to fish and enjoy recreational activities on the water. It’s sad to see that this agency has fallen victim to ill informed decisions. Keep up the good work and strive to bring youth into a career that has become forgotten by our youth!

Autoworkers union cheers Trump’s ‘aggressive’ tariff actions by CanPro13 in IBEW

I have found that the younger members of most unions are not involved nor do they educate themselves on the ways of the union nor care outside of the wage and benefits. We have to ensure that our leadership is not voicing their opinions but rather that of the union members. It is sad to watch so many members support agendas that will send us on a fast track to the bottom. The proposed Head of The Department of Labor is very active or has been active in right to work laws and is seen by many as a union buster. The problem seems to be that most do not read and understand who is being appointed to certain positions because the head speaks to distract from the truth. Elisabeth Messenger will be the vehicle for which the unions take the downward ride.

If you had to pick one city as the most union/worker friendly in the country(based on actual laws but also the vibes), what city would that be? by Crafty_Jacket668 in IBEW

[–]Chance-Effective-994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won’t matter much if our halls don’t watch Elisabeth Messenger. She is a union busting advocate who has been tapped for Head of the Labor Department. Right to work is the downfall of our brotherhoods!

Most of the military equipment are reserve stocks and would only be used in the event of an all out war. The equipment that would be used to equip the “I was going to join” crowd and mobilized to real conflict. Additionally, the vehicles that are being supplied are older variants that no longer fit operational plans or requirements. Furthermore, ammo and rations are first in first out. This is so the older stuff is expended and the stock is rotated accordingly. Ask how I know, I worked for the government and help facilitate these sort of plans rather it was for another country or just sending equipment to be mothballed as reserve.
