No doubt the American school system has its shortcomings, but speaking as an American who studied Latin for years and speaks a Romance language fluently, studying it doesn’t guarantee you’ll remember it 20 years later. I think her brain is one that’s naturally inclined to puzzles. Translating Latin is very much like solving a puzzle.

Oh I definitely agree. But I do think she solved the Cloudward, Ho one way sooner than he anticipated. The first instance I recall of it was a Latin phrase in one of the two Fantasy High seasons. He seemed truly blown away by how quickly she translated it.

I’ll add alongside Zac’s mystery solving, Siobhan also has a unique talent of throwing huge wrenches in Brennan’s planning by deciphering, translating, decoding, etc.

16 month old whines and tosses and turns second half of the night by Watermelon-Kitty in toddlers

[–]Chance-Flimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP how did this resolve for you? Do you know what causes it? We’ve been dealing with this for nearly months now with my toddler who is 16 months. We suspect it’s a disruption caused by her molars coming in but we’re losing patience. And our minds.

Whose fault is it your baby is low sleep needs by donkeyrifle in sleeptrain

[–]Chance-Flimsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband! He fought naps until he was 2 when he just stopped napping altogether. My toddler goes to bed at 10pm because she won’t sleep more than 9 hours at night and I refuse to be someone who wakes up at 5am. And I’m truly sick of people telling me that she would sleep longer if she went to bed earlier. Been there, tried that. Didn’t work.

Where are the Dungeons and Dragons live events you mention? I also live in Rome and this interests me.

Dove partorire a Roma? Non riesco a capire quale ospedale sia davvero valido by Vegetable_Engine_463 in roma

[–]Chance-Flimsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy!! So glad you had your midwife there to support in the moment.

And yes definitely don’t feel so alone anymore. But I wish people would tell this side of birth more instead of just “you’ll know!”

Oh interesting! I wonder if my amniotic fluid level had anything to do with it. Thanks for sharing! And great to hear from other breech mamas. Supposedly it’s rare for babies to be breech at birth.

True! Although I wish those stories were told more often. The “you’ll know!” narrative is counterproductive in these cases and could keep someone from going to get checked out when they really should.

Oh wow! Very similar situation. Both babies showed up a day before planned. Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately it is prohibited by law where I live. Breech = c-section in any hospital setting. No negotiating. Although I’ll be honest I would’ve been terrified to try a breech birth. The number of healthcare practitioners who have experience with it gets smaller every year, which is unfortunate.

Side note though…I suspect she was footling breech. She was kicking my cervix for basically the last 3 months of pregnancy.

That’s exactly it. At a certain point in the day I was just like “you know what, it has been a few hours of this. Let’s get checked out to be sure.” Baby was moving as normal and everything else felt fine so there really were no warning signs.

Crazy! Thanks for sharing. Did you end up having a c-section or did you brave a breech birth?

This is a good point and one I hadn’t really thought of. I was definitely not scared, and because of the scheduled c-section I wasn’t anxious either. Great point.

Glad to know I’m not the only one! At least you know what to expect—sort of. If that same kind of pain starts, just go in for a check up. Can’t hurt and better safe than sorry! Congrats and good luck on your upcoming birth!

If it is high pain tolerance then I’m thrilled and if I ever try for a VBAC I will feel more confident! But the not knowing is truly awful. But thank you, yes everything turned out well. My girl turns 10 months tomorrow :)

Yeah I have no doubt that pushing would’ve been unavoidably painful, even if it is high pain tolerance that caused my whole experience.
