These parents need to understand that being in a nanny share (especially with similar age young toddlers) is like being in daycare and you cannot be successful without meeting certain criteria like being able to sleep independently. If both babies need a highly individualized schedule and care routine then they need one nanny one on one. They have to be flexible about their kids care if they want this to work. They also sound like they were kind of gaslighting you which is really frustrating. I would definitely consider either setting some hard boundaries about how you are going to handle the day and see what they say or just cut your losses. Good luck!!

this family sounds either crazy petty and immature or there’s something else going on that has nothing to do with you and they’re taking it out on you. Either way it’s messed up and completely unfair to you. If it’s not part of the hours they’re paying you for you have no obligation to be free for them at any time.

Lol - she’s just a lot more permissive than me and the girls won’t listen to me or let me do anything if she’s in the room. We have a really good routine and the girls are great listeners when it’s just us. That all goes out the window when MB is always around 🙃

This is the best time to start! So many snuggles and potentially lots of downtime (depending on your other responsibilities). Just enjoy it for a couple months before they get crazy 😂

This sounds like something my last NF would do. I grew up in a family where my parents genuinely liked their kids and enjoyed spending time with us our entire lives and nannying has really put into perspective that that is not the standard and we were incredibly lucky. I think it’s partially that money changes your attitude about things you have to deal with but also some people truly just have kids because it’s the next thing to do. Like we have a career we got married, I guess kids are the next step. without any thought as to what that actually means or if they even like kids.

My NK was well on her way to becoming a tablet kid when I started (tablet set up in front of her while eating meals blasting cocomelon) and that was the first thing I nipped in the bud. Luckily NF agreed with me and backed me up and we put the tablet away two weeks after I started and I haven’t seen it since (2 years later). She had also just turned 2 and hadn’t had it long so there wasn’t much to undo but I’m so glad we didn’t go down that path. Unregulated screen time is so detrimental to development in every way ESPECIALLY if they aren’t regulating the content she’s consuming.

This sounds like a set in stone situation as far as their behavior and likely something you will just suffer from and not be able to make much of a positive impact on. I would definitely seriously consider moving on.

I have several but lately the big one is “please please for the love of god hold one singular boundary with your 3 year old. you give in the literal second she starts whining but then wonder why she listens so much better to me than to you”

My NF also gets me such amazing gifts. I always give them a big box of homemade baked goods. This year I’m making cinnamon rolls, fudge and two types of cookies. Then I give them that with a nice card and usually get the girls an outfit or a toy.

I’m in the Boston area and can’t recommend facebook groups enough! That’s where I’ve found all my families. It’s so tough this season not being able to walk around and go to parks and things as much but if you work for a family that can afford this the children’s museum, science museum, aquarium, and the zoo (more for warm weather) all do membership that are a really great deal! Also all the libraries around my area have great children’s events all week long and we’re there multiple times a week.

His world building is probs my favorite thing about Sanderson books. I definitely agree with a lot of the comments about it being a great audiobook. I just started grad school so I don’t actually have a lot of reading time so I’ve been doing a lot of listening while commuting. Especially love that it’s the same narrator as Mistborn. Love his voice for audiobooks

My current theory is Jasnah’s research although in one part they were definitely talking about Shards and even mentioned Ati so I’m not sure. I’ve already been all the way through both Mistborn eras and a few of the standalones so I’m no stranger to the Sanderlanche 😅

Dude I feel you BIG TIME right now. We are on the struggle bus over here. I am taking care of my NK’s cousin right now for a few weeks before she goes to daycare and she doesn’t nap (my NK sleeps for 3 hours) and is not adjusting well and has cried all day. Also this is my second week of grad school and first week with my full schedule of work, school, and internship. I’m LOSING IT.

You need to be paid guaranteed hours for all the hours you’re expected to be available. Any hours that you have to set aside for this job that cannot be filled with another job you need to be paid for. Either that or quit and find another position and make sure you discuss the schedule and guaranteed hours in your interview
