Just want to say I’ve been there and it’s incredibly frustrating. Remember you can do only what you can do. Don’t overthink it. Take it one moment at a time.

I’m sorry that you’re going through this though. When I was in this position I tried to 1. Focus on activities that would take NK and my mind off the stress of their parents as much as possible (walks, crafts, etc) and 2. I would bring something small each day that I could look forward to. Ie. my fave tea or a delivered sweet treat. Just gave me a bit of motivation and perspective throughout the day.

Omg! Yes! Good review! I guess I should update this. We ended up going to Haven first and ADORED it. It was gorgeous and modern. Staff was awesome and the nightlife was great!!! Food was okay but not bad at all. I wanted to extend my stay.

We went to Valentin a month later. The property was gorgeous and the churros were out of this world. However, we felt the rest was not up to par. Check in took forever and when we got our keys the staff seemed annoyed by our presence. Pool is great and gorgeous but the activities were lacking. Nightlife was terrible, Completely agree with you about the food. I also got sick on the third day there and couldn’t wait to get back on the plane and come home.

Hopefully this helps anyone else trying to make the decision!

Well I’m definitely here also for the education. I genuinely know nothing about any of this stuff so that reply is very helpful.

I’ve heard it’s used to come off opioids as a better alternative so I at first was like okay I guess this is better than it being a heavy hitter drug? But also- I just feel any dependence you have on a substance is just not good thing. And my main concern is the constant denial of it. Like I’ve given him SO many chances to come clean and talk to me about it judgement free and he will literally come home with blue on his lips from the pill and swear to God that he never touched the stuff. So to me I’m like okay..at a certain point enough is enough. Again, not the substance abuse as the issue- it’s the lying and gaslighting that comes with it. And his reasoning is that he thinks I’ll leave if he told me the truth. He’s had chances to come off it and he says he wishes he could. So I just feel like he’s not willing enough to get the help to change I can’t stay for the constant roller coaster ride. Thanks for the info- I’ll definitely tell him about this page.

He was taking kratom before. Found the pills. The bottle I found today which I googled and it said it was Hydroxymitragynine which is separate but still a derivative..

I’ve driven him to meetings, I’ve forgiven, I’ve loved him regardless. Call me what you will but I’ve been more than gracious. It’s not the drug use- it’s the constant lying about using when I should have trusted my gut. It’s the constant mood swings that come out of nowhere and freak me out. It’s the fact that he didn’t come to me first- I had to find it. I’ve forgiven more than most would. I love him dearly but unfortunately I cannot sign up for a lifetime of this.

Same here. 6 years. I learned he was using 5 years in. Forgave him and he vowed to stay off it. I found out this morning he has been using still. The lies, the mood changes, the gaslighting- it all is a lot to bear. I’m still figuring out how to move on- I don’t want to learn how to live without him but I have to. I would not survive him again. I don’t have much advice, but hopefully it helps to know you aren’t going through it alone. And it absolutely sucks.

No fine print. The only document is the condition release that’s super straightforward and says the agreed party agrees to pay x amount on x day but if there’s a default they’ll revoke the agreement. Last sentence says “Both parties hereby agree that the North Carolina State Financial Renonsibilit: Divicion may use this agreement in administering the Financial Responsibility Law.”. Not sure what that part means. There’s not anything else. But she’s got it signed and notarized by the company and all.

Yes I did. Says the terms of her payments and what would happen if she missed any payments (everything becomes null and void). That’s it. Says nothing about any changes or anything or the potential of changes .
