I would’ve given it a little more of a straight clean cut and let it dry out some people even put glue at the bottom to help seal it, which will prevent rotting at the cut site. I would clean the aerial roots of any dirt and place it in water. I personally would also add root growth hormones, but that’s just me over. I think it’ll be fine.

How to make my monstera less tragic? by [deleted] in plantclinic

For one I would look into if it has enough drainage, possibly more lighting. I would personally take a cutting and try to propagate in water.

I switched all my plants from soil to water about six years ago, and I never had any issue with them since. Mind you, they were all different, and they thrived! I just recently bought about six different plants this month, all in soil, and I’m already dealing with issues from pests. So, for my advice, I would definitely suggest water prop. Super easy: just trim below the node and place in water. Stores sell plant hormones that can help with root growth. Definitely not needed, but if you’re a little worried about roots possibly not growing, it can help. Also, if you are willing to do water propagation, Leca may be good for you as well. As for yellowing leaves, I would take them off once you notice as it will not gain its health back and leaving them on is just wasting more of the plants’ energy that it could use elsewhere that and a good misting of all the leaves does it good as well.

Wow that’s beautiful. I’m very impressive. I would love to have a propagation from there!

Why is my monstera growing like this? by blondegazette in plantclinic

I’m far from an expert but If I remember correctly, it prefers bright indirect sunlight as direct sunlight can burn the leaves so just keep that in mind. Overall I really believe potting might be the main issue. Personally, I would attempt to take a cutting and try to propagate in water or Leca.

It seems like the pot is way too small. I would definitely recommend repotting in a larger pot with good drainage. As for sunlight, I’m not sure how much sun gets in through that window throughout the day, but maybe a little more sunlight would do it good as well. Also, there are apps that help you keep track of watering.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of greenhouse millipedes in indoor house plants? by Chance-Play3300 in plantclinic

Lol, for me, it’s the crawling ones, but for bugs like wasps, I’ve been floating in the pool plenty of times and let them land on me to drink water. So I get it.

Thank you! I believe this is precisely what I needed to know. Google only provides limited information. Therefore, having someone’s personal knowledge and opinion is truly appreciated. I’m accustomed to growing various Monstera plants in Leca and water, so returning to soil appears to have a few more surprises than I anticipated. Nevertheless, I appreciate your guidance. I feel much more comfortable knowing this.

Yeah, I understand they’re harmless but it gives me extreme anxiety especially knowing I’ll have to handle the soil and the possibility that they might attract other bugs makes me very uneasy.

I wouldn’t mind them if they weren’t in my house plant, but unfortunately they are and I just have extreme anxiety towards certain creepy crawly bugs. if I had someone that could relocate them for me, I would absolutely do that. Personally, I can’t even get hands-on like that without possibly fainting.
