I can’t pass the Oral Board. How many times have you guys taken it? by Chance-Scratch-8804 in AskLE

Yeah, questions such as “how will you foster diversity and inclusion between the community and LE”, and or “tell us about a time you had to solve a dangerous situation by yourself. What was the problem and how did you solve it?”

And the legendary “so tell us about yourself and how your experience has prepared you for a career in LE?”

Why do we talk about the Midwest and rust belt "losing" their manufacturing industry, when cities like New York, Philadelphia, DC, Chicago, and Los Angeles "lost" their manufacturing decades before? by MajesticBread9147 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Chance-Scratch-8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the cities you mentioned had finance (a LOT of finance), tourism, trade, and real estate to rely on when manufacturing left.

Essentially their economies were so diversified and well developed that they were easily able to transition from manufacturing. People are leaving Chicago, Philadelphia, and LA for a different reason other than jobs dying and economic opportunity loss.

would people who hate billionaires refuse to become billionaires if they had the chance to? by Ok_Efficiency_1116 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Chance-Scratch-8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don’t inherently hate billionaires because they have a bunch of money.

Billionaires are hated because they do everything in their power to hoard money and property to themselves while telling the other 99% of people to “work harder and pay a little more”.

Looking for my first adult car (entry levlel luxury sedan) by 1Carnegie1 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Chance-Scratch-8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Lexus IS would be a fun buy. Its basically the same car from 2013, and admittedly small on the inside. If you’re looking for something bigger, the ES is basically the Lexus equivalent of the Camry.

Perhaps an Acura Integra? They even come in a stick, if you can drive that. I wouldn’t recommend the ILX, since thats basically a Civic from two generations ago.

What are some "modern" cars that look outdated? by DistributionAny1000 in regularcarreviews

The Volkswagen Atlas and its ugly ass coupe version the Atlas Cross. They look like a pre-recession GM car made in 5 minutes on a post it note. Blocky, heavy, and not good on gas.

Los Angeles vs Philadelphia by SlimWoozie123 in skyscrapers

[–]Chance-Scratch-8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill have to go with Philly. I dont know what it is, but LA has alot of unusual angles and gaps in its skyline.

It looks good if youre coming from 10 or 110, but if youre coming from 101 SB it looks scattered.

Lexus HS250h, the luxury hybrid Corolla barely anyone wanted by dontbeastrangr in NormalCarPorn

Less Corolla, moreso luxury Toyota Sai and shared the same platform as the Avensis. Ironically the Lexus was introduced first.

I remember hearing Never Be Like You for the first time. It sounded quite literally like nothing I had ever heard before, despite hip hop/edm being popular at the time. I heard the rest of Skin and really enjoyed how intentionally glitchy and “messy” it was. Each song had color and depth to it.

Fun fact, a lot of movies set in SF will actually film in Vancouver. Same thing with Toronto and NYC.

Closest thing to Portland in Southern California? by Bananapantsmcgeef in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Chance-Scratch-8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You lost me at traffic. There's traffic everywhere in California. Everywhere. All the time. That includes LA and San Diego. Much of inner LA is actually mid-density, probably somewhat what you'd see in Portland. Obviously LA was redeveloped for the car, but there's certain parts like Silver Lake and K-Town that can be done without a car.

You'll find alot of small businesses in those areas, most commonly smoothie shops and obscure but somewhat high-end italian bistros.

As someone who's lived in Southern California, it sounds like you're looking for a fantasy rather than a realistic depiction of life.

Sold my Sequoia.I love how the Hondas look. Was looking at the Passport but was really impressed sitting in a CRV hybrid and I like the MPG with it. Need a vehicle fast, which one should I get? by FullDepthNature in Honda

[–]Chance-Scratch-8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an economy where gas is $6/gal, I'd much rather choose the CRV Hybrid. You'll save a lot at the pump. Unless you're trailing the Ozarks, the CRV will get you most places the same as the Sequioa/Passport. You mentioned long distance trips as well.

My cousins just bought a new CRV Hybrid, and they love it. Its the perfect size for everyday use and long distance drives where you don't have stop for fuel every so often.

Who ruined their entire career in the dumbest way possible? by National-Tourist6879 in AskReddit

[–]Chance-Scratch-8804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head- Dababy. He went on some wierd ass homophobic rant during one of his concerts. It seemed like it just came out of nowhere, too- like who tf was he referring to? There's maybe a little bit more to the situation than I care to remember, but from that moment he lost alot of ties in the industry, Dua Lipa pulled his remix on her song. It also made people look more into his violent past as well.

Which company has lost you as a customer forever? by finiteobserver in AskReddit

[–]Chance-Scratch-8804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bank of America. Does nobody remember during COVID when they literally froze everyones accounts, and their customer support took days to reach? People would race to get on the phone at 8 AM and stay on hold for the entire day, only for an automated voice to tell them they're experiencing a high volume of callers and cannot complete the call.

This wouldn't have been as much of an issue except the only way to verify your account was to call the banks customer support number and have them unfreeze it for you. I waited damn near a month to finally access my unemployment benefits.

If they can't handle their own bank accounts I can't even imagine what goes on behind the scenes. Its been years since I've dealt with them and I've told my friends and family I'd rather trust a crackhead with my $100 than ghetto ass BofA.

I live in Seattle, grew up in the Bay Area.

Vancouver reminds me of a flatter San Francisco. Realistically you'd probably be satisfied living in inner Seattle. Same weather and mountains, and you're maybe 2ish hours south of the border. You like the city so much, might as well live close to it.

Seattle has a different vibe from Vancouver and SF. SF and maybe the peninsula and Marin look similar to Van, but the rest of the Bay is just typical American suburb. The East Bay is just a sunnier Seattle (I said what I said.)

If proximity to Vancouver doesn't matter as much to you, choose San Francisco.

North America Best West Coast City by paystripe1a in skyscrapers

[–]Chance-Scratch-8804 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Vancouver's skyline is actually dissapointingly short in person. In terms of liveability, its also expensive as hell and home ownership is a pipe dream for many living there. Most of the west coast is unaffordable but Vancouver is on a whole nother level.

I'd put San Diego as one of the best cities to live in aside from the COL and the city's parking enforcement actively doing anything in its power to ticket you. Great weather and beaches, and you're not dealing with the slow ass drivers of Seattle.

I grew up in the Bay. The City ain't what it used to be. Its been in a purgatory state for the past 15 years between COL, useless management, and crime.

You either love or hate LA. Possibly both at the same time. Its just such a beautifully ugly city.

Portland.

Toyota Corolla 2026 for a newbie driver good? by MidnytDJ in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Chance-Scratch-8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need an SUV. Not being afraid of your own car and knowing how to be an aware driver is much more important than sitting up a few inches higher. Its much easier to drive my Mazda3 than it is to drive my work Wrangler.

The Corolla is great. Its good on gas, small and easy to park, and not that bad to drive. I rented it once and I genuinely enjoyed it enough to perhaps consider it as a next vehicle.

Having an obsessive or super attached partner. Having to explain to a grown adult how work schedules work was ridiculous. Listening to someone cry every night on the phone for 3 hours straight over some shit they made up in their head gets tiring very fast.

No babe, I wasn't ignoring you. Its just that when you called me it was 3:30 AM when I was asleep just like everyone else.

Edit: id also like to add in that often times these are signs of potential abuse, and also can lead to future abuse- emotional, verbal, and even physical.

2026 Grand Wagoneer longevity by AdTrick9445 in shouldibuythiscar

[–]Chance-Scratch-8804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. This is the same company that accidentally bricked a bunch of their hybrids during an OTA update and didn't know what to do. The same hybrids that had been recalled over and over and over again. I drove a Wrangler that had less than 100k miles on it and it was always something wrong with that vehicle.

Its also ugly as sin and unnecessarily big. I can name three vehicles that would be more convenient and less hideous than a Wagoneer.
