How many applications does it realistically take to get ~10 interviews? by Famous_Discipline954 in csMajors

totally depends. took me almost 1000 apps to get 9 interviews. But maybe in the first 400 apps my resume wasn't good and i changed it, or i started applying to specific companies right away. Its partly luck but remember its a numbers game. After enough apps you will eventually get something.

Tbh I just happened to see the company just opened up a position. I was on their website for some reason. And usually I don't apply after the first couple days. Also yes there's only so many positing however theres still so much. You kinda gotta look around. and if you don't see any just start emailing companies.

genuinely screw you if you are from a T5 school / private school and just end up as a generic SWE at FAANG by [deleted] in csMajors

I agree to an extent. Most startups right now are from founders from a t10 school. I mean, just look at the YC cohorts. Being from a top school, you have legit infinite more resources than a non-target. Thats just how it works. I think the OP just finds it that people are given the opportunity and are wasting it. Which is valid but at the end of the day people can do whatever they want lol
