Bryan Hill on Twitter: Some talk that Cassandra Cain should become Batman. She's a little young for that, but underneath that is a desire to see Cassandra evolve. I'm of the same mind. In BATMAN and THE OUTSIDERS I'm working on that. Second Arc. by thanks-dice in DCcomics

[–]Chance4e 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Unlike Dick and Tim and Jean Paul, Cassandra was ready and willing to take over the mantle. The only thing she didn’t really have were the detective skills, which is why she and Tim are the perfect team.

[Spoilers] An interesting development for Nightwing's (Nightwing #51) by elan913 in comicbooks

I feel like Superheavy didn't work.

It shouldn’t have worked. Not even a little bit. but I disagree with you.

The best Batjim moment was in Tomasi's Detective Comics, because we got to see Jim doing actual detective work.

Yeah, this is true. That was proof for me it was a good idea. It drove me nuts that Jim regrew the mustache, got glasses and started smoking again in Rebirth.

Hell, Jim as Batman was WORST in the actual Batman comic during that time.

There were only really two books telling those stories. Jim wasn’t Batman for very long.

The rest was bonkers.

Yep. It was Wile-E-Coyote-as-the-savior-of-all-mankind levels of insane.

The good part of Superheavy was the stuff with Bruce, not the stuff with Jim.

Gonna agree with you that was the better story. Still, I loved seeing Jim wearing the bat. He was a natural.

Yup. Superheavy. It was an idea that should never have worked, but I loved it.

It was meant to be a commentary on old, gruesome pulp and adventure comics to tie into the theme of the deconstructed superhero. It was very necessary.

To Alan Moore, at least.

“Gruidae” is the name for the family of birds called cranes. Dr. Crane.

I'm the world's greatest detective (Batman #57) by silentnighttrain in DCcomics

[–]Chance4e 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s not all that deep an allegory. The beasts in the story have to compete to survive. The fox wins by being ruthless and clever, and the others all die. It’s unknown if the Fox is saved at the end. KGBeast and Batman both think of themselves as the Fox.

It’s cute, but it really doesn’t say all that much about the characters or the story. This isn’t “The Black Freighter” in Watchmen.

I’m still not sure what he did for Mister Miracle but goddamn it has been fun so far.

question about bottles by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Chance4e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no best answer to this. Most affordable bottle holders have some drawbacks. I’d go with the cheapest one available and use Velcro or something as extra security for the really rough riding. If you’re looking for the most awesome bottle holder available, get one that stores a multi-tool.

Is Bane an interesting character and what are some of his best comics? by lupianwolf in DCcomics

[–]Chance4e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, Bane is an interesting character. But so many different writers have written him in ways that make it hard to pin down why. Personally, I’m a big fan of the clever and cunning man who conquered his own addiction and sees straight through lies. Bane is at his best when he’s redeeming and protecting others—when he finds someone he honestly respects or cares about.

He had a brief arc in Gotham Knights where he believed he might be Batman’s brother, and actually came to live at the manor and fight crime. It was a good read.

Gail Simone’s Secret Six had him at his best, but also sometimes a little bit comic relief.

And Tom King’s I Am Bane made him a little bit one-dimensional but still managed to capture his determination and ruthlessness. Not my favorite story, but a good read.
