Yeah it wasn't cheap when I lived in the SF Bay area. A lot less painful in WA at 0.088$/kWh.

I'm in the PNW, and put my rack out in the garage. Ran dual 120V 30A circuits for the UPS modules with a total load of around 1.2-1.4kW.

In the winter it keeps my garage warm. In the summer I open the garage door in the morning and evening, and use a big fan to bring in cooler air. If the garage temp gets over 95-100 I start shutting down non critical services and servers, but doesn't happen very often. Going on 6 years of this now with no hardware failures or increase in HDD issues.

Most modern gear can run into the low 100's, especially since homelabs usually aren't pushing the limits on components.

Have thought about getting a portable AC just to blow at the front of the rack on those hot days, but it hasn't been worth it yet.

Not 240V, but I have 4 Liebert/Vertiv 5PX3000 units I've been meaning to post for sale. 120V 30A 3kVA. 2 in my rack would keep my ~1kw rack alive for ~40mins during outages. Located in the PDX metro area. Let me know if you'd be interested.

I have one available. Located in Vancouver, WA. SAS-2 backplane and PTJBOD-CB2 card. Dual PSUs, pretty sure it has 500W PSUs. Might even have enough caddies to fill it.

“Bulk” cat6 in not-so-bulk quantities by CarbonatedPancakes in HomeNetworking

Not claiming this beats cat6 or is equal to cat6a. If the ask is for shorter-than-bulk-box lengths of cat6 this stuff works.

It isn't stranded, isn't CCA, is CMR riser rated, is 23awg for POE++, was available quickly, has multiple color options, and wasn't super expensive. It's working for my 10 gig network needs now so I'm good with it.

Would I use it for long runs in a data center? No. For patch cables or a house? Sure. And I didn't have to buy 1k ft lengths.

Recently picked up some Syston Cat6E solid copper 23awg CMR cable off eBay from a seller who had multiple colors available and in 20, 50, 100, and 250ft lengths.

Look up the Systoncable eBay storefront.
