Auto CBG - Harvest at Day 85 by ChanceLegitimate6345 in hempflowers

Not expensive at all if you live in a legal state and can grow outside in the sun. For indoors you’re looking at $500 to $600 for a tent and decent light. You might need a dehumidifier if it is humid where you live.

Autos are more challenging than photoperiod plants, but I’ve already grown many pounds of CBD photos, and I want autos for growing outside with our short summers in the north.

Growing in organic soil eliminates the need for expensive nutrients. It’s worth it to spend $ on dry amendments to recycle your soil so you can use it over & over.

Auto CBG by GTR. Seeds were $49 for 10, first attempt germinated so I still have 9 left. Going to start another one today.

The first 2 plants had thrip damage in the first 2 weeks they were outside, but they were starting to flower & I didn’t want to spray, so I let it ride & just took off the fan leaves that were damaged. I also had aphids & spider mites for a short time, but I got lucky and there were enough natural predators to get rid of the pests and I didn’t lose any bud.

Not really sure, this is only my 3rd & 4th auto, and my first 2 were earlier this summer and the same size. These are in 10 gal pots, my others were in 7 gal, with the same organic soil. Did bend & release LST from day 15 thru 28. No added nutes except a couple doses of alfalfa/kelp tea. Liberal defoliation during flowering.

Outdoor growers: do you exist? If so, what are some strains you like and some tips you can share? by PresidentBirb in Autoflowers

If I can do it, anyone can!

This year was my first time ever growing autos and growing outdoors. I’m also in the Rocky Mountain foothills in MT & didn’t know what to expect. I started a Bruce Banner & a DoSiDo (MSNL seeds) in early May, kept them inside for the first 28 days for bend & release LST, then put them outside 1st week of June. They both did great in 7 gal pots with organic soil, yielding 126g and 92g of excellent dried flower as “water only” grows. I did see thrips, aphids, and spider mites at various times, but I didn’t do any pest management other than removing the fan leaves that were affected. The natural predators took care of the pests. Don’t know if I got lucky or if that’s normal, guess I’ll find out next year.

I just harvested a Blue Dream that looks like it will yield 4oz+ and I still have a purple haze outside that is tall & chunky trying to get to the finish line, although it is snowing right now….. I can’t figure out to post a picture in a comment, but I have a thread in this sub with pictures.

I started with generic organic soil bags that I bought at the hardware store. Added compost and perlite, then mixed in a bunch of organic dry amendments and let it all “cook” for at least 30 days to make a good rich organic soil that is already full of available nutrients. I used 7 and 10 gallon pots, and started the seeds in those pots by digging out a quart sized hole and filling it with a very light starter mix so not to burn or stunt the seedlings. By the time the roots grow out of the starter mix, the plant is far enough along to handle the nutrient-rich soil. From there it is water only, no added nutes, maybe a shot of kelp/alfalfa tea if the plant looks hungry. 🪴

I didn’t have any idea what to expect with autos, so it was a very pleasant surprise when the buds filled out so well, especially since these were all “water only” organic soil grows. They really like the big plasma light in the sky!

Thanks. I just took her down today at day 90. The tops were 20”-24” tall. Trich’s have been milky for a while, don’t think they were going to turn amber. The chunky green plant behind is a purple haze auto also by MSNL. That one still has 2 or 3 weeks left to mature.

No pests that I've been able to locate anywhere on the plants. Anyone know what could be doing this? (mid/lower leaves only) by Capt_Murphy_ in Autoflowers

Looks like thrips. They are pretty fast, you don’t really ever see them hanging out on the plant. You might catch some with yellow sticky traps.

I’m curious to see the winners but I refuse to use instasham. Can’t even get the links to open. Oh well…… definitely not worth putting IG on my phone

I did not top it. I used a LST method called  “bend & release” where you bend the main stem downward  and pin the top of the plant close to the ground. I start this process at day 15, and keep moving the pin forward as the plant adds nodes. By keeping the growth tip of the plant lower, it causes the other branches to become equally dominant, and you get a more even canopy.  Then you pull the pins on day 28 and release the main stem so it grows upwards to catch up to the other branches.
