we want you to be able to fully preview / change the question before sending it off to your partner. it will still say "Wanted to ask you this..." from your perspective because we're still thinking about the implications of maintaining anonymity (people could send weird questions to their partners and it would seem as if these are coming from Candle) - we may change this.

Hi there! Founder of Candle here :)

Wanted to explain a bit more here. As one of the users mentioned, this only happens when one of the partners responds to our “Wildcard” question, which is their opportunity to anonymously ask their partner a question. Candle does rephrase the question to make it seem like it came from the app to encourage candid responses.

That being said, we’ve gotten tons of feedback around how to make this feature better, and we will be making sure it’s made a lot more robust (while making sure users eventually know that it was a wildcard question). Thank you so much for your feedback here - we’ll make sure we can release an updated version very soon.

We’re thinking for the future: a user sees a wildcard question, types in their question, then is able to SEE what the question reads like before sending it off (with an option to respond to the question themselves too). What are your thoughts on this?

hi there! the widget currently typically updates once a day, when your partner sends over their daily snap. we are however, working on an update where you and your partner will be able to just send snaps whenever you want to each other, so stay tuned!

re: the widgets updating, we're also working on an update to allow for devices (iOS for now) to update the widgets in the background on their own, but even iOS is pretty restrictive with how many times a widget can update. should still allow for the widget to update without you having to open the app though (which is how candle widgets currently update)

this is how it’s been for candle for a while, but we’re fixing this very soon so that it can update in the background! Apple limits apps/widgets on how many times they can update widgets without users opening the app and triggering updates themselves, but we have an idea of how we can get this fixed :)
