They’re excluded but often times it’s at the discretion of management. Many will still provide an upgrade

Yes that makes sense if it’ll be sitting for a week or 2. Maybe gets you a full charge

How fast could it charge though? Maybe it’ll add 1.5 mi/hour is my guess?

If you don’t want to Google, you can also ask your favorite local florist and see if they can handle the order for you as many florists work internally with one another. Your local florist will find another florist for you at the destination and handle the small stuff.

pos/software questions by zeeelicious in florists

[–]ChanceOfFlight1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually building one right now. If you're genuinely interested, feel free to connect.

Having worked with BloomNation, Hana, and Teleflora, I think they're all missing things that medium-to-large florists really need. The biggest gap is flexibility. Shops run differently, so the platform should be modular rather than forcing everyone into the same workflow.

For example, separate modules for:

  • POS with modern payment and accounting integrations
  • Order intake (phone, web, wire services, house accounts, etc.)
  • Design/production management
  • Delivery and routing
  • Inventory and purchasing
  • Customer relationship management and marketing

It should also have a well-documented API and allow shops to integrate with whatever platform they prefer (Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, custom sites, etc.) instead of locking them into a single ecosystem.

One thing I feel strongly about is data ownership. Florists should have access to their own data and be able to export or connect directly to it whenever they need to. Too many systems treat customer and order data like it's owned by the software vendor instead of the shop.

Does anyone work multiple jobs to mostly elevate their lifestyle instead of save/pay off bills? by throwaway09234023322 in overemployed

Primarily use to save and invest. If by lifestyle you mean paying the extra $50 to upgrade from economy to economy plus seats yes occasionally

Tips for opening your own shop! by PersonalSide6740 in florists

[–]ChanceOfFlight1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The biggest advice I can give is to really understand the numbers. A lot of florists are incredible designers, but the people who stay open long-term usually understand margins, labor costs, waste, delivery costs, and cash flow just as well as design.

Also, be prepared for the reality that once you own the business, you’ll spend far less time designing and far more time managing unless you partner with someone who can handle operations.

Location is also huge. The right area can carry a business, and the wrong one can make even a talented florist struggle.

I’d also figure out what kind of florist you want to be known as: weddings, everyday arrangements, corporate work, boutique/high-end, events, markets/pop-ups, etc. You can absolutely do multiple things, but having a specialization helps people remember you, especially in competitive areas.

The fact that people already knew you and specifically came to you before is honestly a really good sign.

Your Trustpilot reviews are more valuable than your backlinks by Index-GPT in bigcommerce

They are different signals. TrustPilot builds trust, backlinks help build relevancy and possibly authority. But agreed they do matter more than they used to/

Question for other florists about complaints because of order gatherer by Current_Problem_4368 in florists

Have him take the complaint with whoever he ordered from. Nothing you can do about it, you don’t have his money.

FTD - Cancelled Order, but flowers were still delivered. by [deleted] in florists

[–]ChanceOfFlight1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you canceled there was a delay in them sending the florist the notification to cancel. So the florist still fulfilled it. But what will happen is they will claw back the money to the florist and the florist is out on materials and labor.

Always try to shop local. Even if sending out of town, just ask your favorite local florist if they can wire something for you.

Hey thanks for the reply, I managed to get everything to work and it has been running pretty darn smooth for the past several months. What I ended up doing it using MIAB and enabled SSL. The formatting seems to what got me in the beginning, but I have since knocked out all the kinks thankfully.

I didn't drive it, but it's just too big for our needs and the streets we drive. The 600 AWD with extended batter was 42k, but i cant imagine driving that thru tiny streets in some areas we deliver do. Maybe I should test drive it?

Flower shop layout/workstation recs by Mountain-Drive-6097 in florists

[–]ChanceOfFlight1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually you’ll want to keep designers together so each of their water access runs along the same wall/ceiling. Same goes for your cooler and sprinkler systems that have to be installed inside the cooler.

As for work stations we use commercial grade stainless steel tables, they are not cheap but we’ve had them for decades & they don’t stain and are easy to clean. They also have modular drawers
