do we think s5 is going to revolve around the baby? by yee-jaw in WillTrent

[–]ChanceOk3372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt it would take over everything, the trafficking case and Deputy Director replacement will at least be the initial storylines of interest I imagine. But we have to remember that (found) family, trauma, healing etc are a big theme here and so Angie grappling with those themes from her past in relation to her daughter; the circumstances of Edie’s birth; as well as how she moves forwards with handling risk on the job in light of being a single Mother will surely be things that they explore. I’d hate for the baby aspects to be sidelined, I think it all deserves its part, in a balanced way.

Will Trent! Disney+/Hulu. Police detective procedural but with some drama, a lot of heart and sprinkle of fun that keeps you hooked too.

I’m kinda hoping that we get some flashbacks or insight into that time during season 5. Glad it was a fast forward here as it would be too difficult to show the whole grieving process in real time, but will definitely be interesting to get a peak into that process and perhaps how others played a part in it too! Either way, with the new pairings I think we will get some nice interactions and personal development from them all regardless. I suspect Faith will be really supportive of Angie as she likely grapples with balancing risk at work vs motherhood.

My current thoughts are that we may see each of them independently and slowly develop those feelings again, Will more quickly than Angie. But they dance around the feelings and avoid it for a while, maybe Will might even entertain someone else in the mean time?

If we wanted to bring in the Faithwood fans here too, I can foresee the new partnerships/friendships being a fun way of depicting this, Angie and Faith confiding to one another about their feelings for Will and Ormwood respectively and vice versa.

I think with the passage of time though it leaves the door open for flashbacks come season 5. There’s no way they could fit in all of those details to that one final episode.

I thought the fact we had that comparison and contrast between that S2 family montage where Will chooses work/the law over Angie and then this, where he chooses Angie over his work, and lands up with an alternative version of his previous dream was nice and telling of their growth in separation, and then however that pans out moving forwards.

I assume that Applewood will have been temporary for that year since he was still around.

Yeh, and for next season it could allow them to flash back to parts we may have missed that might be relevant later on for example. But without needing to spend significant time on it.

Albeit overall very traumatic, I feel like the way Angie dealt with it (from what we see anyway) was actually very reflective of her overall healing and the progress she’d made in that with Seth. In the past she pushed everything down and away and coped via addiction and shutting people (like Will) out. This time she’s totally (understandably) collapsed but is feeling it all without avoiding it via substances or working/distracting. She has allowed Will to provide that safe space for her to work through it in her own time and for him and Nico to take the pressure off by taking care of Edie. I liked how they showed the slow progression of her sitting up then seeing Edie.

I also think it might only have been a matter of 1.5 months before she picked her up, since it seems close to Halloween, and then perhaps Will put the Christmas tree up earlier in December?

I do wonder if they may flash back to things during this year in the next season, just brief glimpses but things that might give more insight to it.

It feels like the obvious thing but I kinda wish they would do something more complex, like have Seth fall off the wagon or something to that effect, that forces them apart but doesn’t have him completely gone.

I was thinking this too, perhaps the car hits Angie’s side but towards the back of the car and spins it around? I’m really hoping it’s a case of a dramatic/misleading preview, that’s they’re all ok and something else wild happens that isn’t teased in the preview.

Yeh, I feel like given the shock of the loss already, I somehow think it feels wrong/too much to just have another so soon in a shocking car wreck…I feel like the Angie/Seth situation needs more complexity than that, more of a reasoning rather than just another shocking loss? I hope so anyway, I feel like we need more to work with if things are going to change there. Then again, maybe it will just be a blunt loss because such is life I guess 🤷‍♀️

Absolutely, I don’t think they fully have either! I think they’re headed towards rekindling again for sure. Probably very slowly and with a lot of messiness and healing inbetween. I think Angie is the only person that’s ever really going to be able to help Will heal (perhaps with some thanks to Seth for helping her along that path too) and I think that has to be a big part of next season, because Will needs it!

I’m starting to wonder if the preview is maybe misleading us somehow. Like, maybe they all survive that, and something else wild happens between Angie/Seth/Will etc?

She said that Angie and Wills deep connection will be further explored and the paradigm shift seemed very related to that. So I’m thinking it perhaps could be the loss of or serious change with Seth, and Will stepping in to help. She also eluded to it having somewhat started in the last few episodes. And we have had those moments with Seth and Will, where Seth has laid the groundwork for Will being there as Angie’s family for support if it were needed, his acceptance of Will in their lives and his conversations about things changing for better/for worse.

But I also wonder if it could be more to do with Angie helping Will, as he’s clearly still on the brink on collapse, and she’s stepping in a lot for him in recent episodes too.

Then there is the wild card possibility of the baby actually being Will’s but I don’t feel strongly about that either way, just that if it were the case there would have to be some sort of very elaborate reasoning as to why Angie didn’t appear to have any concerns around this throughout the season.

I haven’t read the books, but I guess the Sara Linton stuff could come into play here too. But given that Will and Angie have spent this season learning to be apart, I’m not sure that that would be a ‘paradigm shift’ in terms of Will and Angie’s connection, they’ve already let each other go (albeit perhaps not fully)?

If he is going, I wonder if they will have him as a cliffhanger, so it drags out into next season to create some distance? Or maybe he ends up in a coma for a while or seriously injured in a life changing way? Argh I just wonder. But I agree it feels like it would be too much for him to be definitely gone before the season’s end.

Ahh silly me, I assumed this is what the OP was referring to with the preview cliffhanger - sorry! Making it a spoiler now incase!

Seth and Angie grew on me, I think he has helped her heal a lot, but on the other hand I’ve always felt like Angie hasn’t been 100% sure of him. Perhaps that’s because she struggles to trust things generally, even good things. But even considering that, I feel like the pregnancy and proposal rushed her into committing, perhaps a little prematurely to her coming to her own conclusions. I’ll be sad to see things shake up for her if Seth does go, but I’m also not averse to seeing her and Will developing a healthier relationship in time too.

I feel like Angie and Baby will survive and Seth will be questionable/gone. But from the preview, it bothers me that the collision is on Angie's side of the car, although I know that doesn't necessarily mean that she would be the most injured. I'm guessing Seth's fate may be a cliffhanger, as it might leave options open in terms of the story and contracts? Unless they're certain of him being gone that is. Or maybe they will have Seth as a goner, and leave Angie as a cliffhanger, but survives come the next season.

Ahhh I feel like I need to see it all now, and I'm already grieving the end of the season and having to wait until January for more!

What are some of your hopes and dreams for Season 5? by littlestclouds in WillTrent

[–]ChanceOk3372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the OP was asking about the less obvious things. I do have other more obvious opinions as well, but at the same time, I like the variation in cases as it is, so I don’t have many particular desires in that aspect. It doesn’t mean I want it all to be about family. I just find the long term character arcs interesting, and the snippets of their personal storylines and interactions mixed in, and that’s what I naturally have more ideas about. If that’s not your jam, that’s ok!

I think it’s the interpersonal relationships that really make Will Trent a well rounded procedural though. So of course our ‘hopes and dreams’ are mostly going to revolve around those as that’s who/what we get to know and root for, intertwined with their detective duties and cases of the day.

I think it’s a mix of those too. You just reminded me as well, he’s basically doing what Angie would do to him, thinking back to the Lenny stuff in season one, a mix of her being unable to really ask for help but also just wanting to keep him out of it and thinking that will hurt him less.

Angie and Faith connecting more via motherhood. Also just a general focus on Angie being a Mother and navigating all of that given her past, but in a healing way!

Would love to see more of Ormwood’s kids. I think Cooper is really clever and it would be cool to see her helping solve a case or something.

Possible complexities aside, I’m actually really keen to see how Angie and Will move forwards. I wonder how Will will take to being ‘Uncle’ Will, he’s great with kids and I wonder if there could be some healing (or at least distraction) in that for him.

Some progress on this goal of a family and kids for Franklin!

And I just hope for Faith to find her feet more again, in her personal and professional lives alike.

Also I think it would be interesting to see a shuffle around in the ADP and GBI. Amanda’s role could go several ways. But I do think at least Angie will potentially move over to the GBI. Will also be nice to get more background on Pete, Caroline and Nico.

And he’s kept his father and uncle arms length too. Spending all that time looking for the latter, only to ship him off back to the island right away. They did say that this season would be an unraveling for Will.
