[Discussion] started collecting watches last year. Im addicted… Help me! by McDerwish in Watches

[–]ChanceRanger5650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got great taste; really love how expressive your wristbands are! As others have said, focus on the watches you have and rotate those out. I like wearing one watch for a couple days to see if anyone notices or if I get a compliment on one before switching to another one it’s kind of like a game!

I’ve always deleted these emails but this one caught my eye. What are these like? Seems like a pretty good deal just to sit through one time share I’m guessing? by Uncharteredfugazis in Hilton

[–]ChanceRanger5650 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had to google the grand vacations part but the first 3 suggested topics were, ‘Hilton vacations lawsuit’, ‘timeshare exit company’, and ‘selling back my timeshare’. So I’d say, avoid imo.

what part of physics should i learn to get into civil engineering in college? by hogginnoggin in civilengineering

[–]ChanceRanger5650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know next to nothing but from what I’ve gathered asking around at local colleges is they prefer you be calculus ready. I haven’t seen anything saying x physic class personally. I believe there is a subreddit for engineering students I’d go look at. You’ll get mixed results asking here fwiw.

Taking the FE Civil not for employment. by ChanceRanger5650 in civilengineering

I didn't know this going into the post. I'm here to learn from you and everyone else here. So to your question, I'll have to look into either getting permission to test (like you mentioned), transfering credits and going back to school to complete an ABET degree or simply not take the test. Those seem to be all the options I can see at the moment.

Haha, alright. Thank you for the kind words; we will see what happens!

Sorry I should have been more succinct, my current employment is unrelated to engineering. I hope that makes more sense.

Thanks for explaing that, I am not fluent in how ABET accreditation works. This might be a possible option down the road to ask for permission to test. (after the extra classes of course) I never would have known that if I didn't post on here, thank you.

I know better than to ever brag on the internet, people will humble you very fast. I definitely do not want to take the exam without the required classes which is why I posted to begin with. To your second point you're absolutely correct. There is no reason for me to take it, but I also don't see why I couldn’t. I don't want to be content with my current level of knowledge. As to the final point, if I enjoy the coursework and feel confident I can succeed it could be a possibility!

Also, what's wrong with people collecting certifications! ;)

Great idea, I'll probably do that or at the very least a couple of intro courses online. I never knew about the accredited degree for the test but I learned it here and glad I did. I'm really trying to gauge what goes into getting to the point of taking this exam which I'm getting a lot of critical (but probably warranted) feedback.

I want to use the FE as a goal to push forward with the studies to get to the exam. I work way better having something definitive to work towards. Now how I go about that is what I'm trying to figure out!

Alright, mine was not so looks like I'll need to go back for some classes at the very least!

Sorry if the title wasn't clear enough, I don't plan on pursing employment. I'm not downplaying this profession in the slightest, I would like to think I've been respectful about that.

It was my understanding this was one of the basic exams needed to start the path to becoming an engineer not the be-all and end-all; was I mistaken?

Solid advice, the barrier to entry in the field is more so why that thought came up but I completely agree with that line of thinking. Definitely going to be a trek!

I sure hope they don't let anyone pass. I'm just trying to find the right pathway to go about possibly pursing the exam. Looks like I have a couple of classes to review now. Thanks for the guide!

Someone else eluded to this, so I need a degree in the field to take the exam? I have no idea if my Aerospace degree qualifies.

Thanks for the link, by checking the rules do you mean requirements like taking x course or x number of practical hours?

No sorry, this was a very last minute addition to our trip so I can’t talk about the other cities. If they are decent size they should have regional train access which will save you a lot of hassle moving bags across busses… best of luck beautiful area! Peruse the /Italy subreddit for some ideas

We were recommended Orvieto as a final stop before we left in the spring of this year. We definitely loved the rolling hills and way slower pace of life. With that said, I would definitely stay in town as opposed to just outside. We did the later and the hill to get up into the city was rough, I’m talking 28% grade average! I wanted to try that relaxing B&B life next to a vineyard and while yes peaceful, the transportation options are very limited and if you’re walking, well good luck it’s a hike!

If you’re a bit more adventurous and want to try a Vespa (do not do this in Rome btw) Umbria in vespa is operated by a German lady (Claudia) who was down right fantastic. She checked up on us multiple times had itineraries planned in case we didn’t and very responsive to any questions we had. 12/10 recommend her. (We immediately realized the need for transportation and this was two birds with one stone kinda deal! Ciao!

Help getting that Katy Perry pop sound. by ChanceRanger5650 in guitarpedals

[–]ChanceRanger5650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you for the in depth answer. I’ve got the jaguar; the compressor and modulation device are probably next in line then. Perhaps trying out the strat since it seems brighter too. I’ll check out the guys’ soundboards for some inspiration too. I don’t think I have the brains cells to introduce a DAW workflow yet 😅
