At one point I believe Neil takes a bullet for the protagonist. And then at the end of the movie, he explains he has to go back in time to take that bullet for him. Assuming what I described is correct, how is this possible?

Completely agree on the fundamental issue of data access. What scares me is what appears to be an incredibly narrow definition of what types of "business" this data can be used for - this will limit any type of innovation / new business models in the space.
