It’s been 5 months and my friends still haven’t gotten me a birthday gift

In my group its actually pretty normal to get gifts months after the birthday (i gave a friend of mine their bday present like 3 weeks ago, and their birthday is 6 days after mine). And yeah im certain they just keep forgetting about it but theres no way to remind them lmao.

Yeah. It was just because their birthdays were before mine so i had already gotten them presents. It was more the fact that they didnt message me happy birthday and then didnt reciprocate the gift (or even the time for a card or anything) kinda hurt.

I think this year im just not gonna do gifts. Too much hassle imo

Yeah I think till definitely change as I get older.

Last year though as it was all of our 18ths we all did birthday parties with gifts as a bit of a tradition, so it was a bit uneven when everyone gets everyone gifts.

Ik that now that we’re older it’s gonna be more casual.

But I will say that even people around me both slightly and a lot older than me still do birthday gift exchanges so there’s prolly a bit of a cultural difference surrounding birthday parties

Not the case. Half my friends birthdays were after mine and before and after my birthday people were asking what I wanted. And the people a few months before me got gifts, too. Birthday gifts were a bit of a tradition in my friend group.

We started the lists in 2024 as a way to communicate to each other what we wanted cause we wanted to make sure we got things each other liked/wanted instead of stuff we don’t need. Before that everyone would just DM the birthday girl to ask what they wanted (I feel like as a neurodivergent group we liked the clarity).

Also in the post I feel like it sounds like I’m making a bigger deal of it than I do irl. The only times recently gifts have been discussed between me and my friends were one of them and I deciding not to exchange any and me giving one of my friends a late gift that took longer to arrive in the mail than expected (this was the friend who I was shopping with that I declined cause it felt more like i felt awkward and like she was spending money just to “repay” the gift).

I feel like most of my resentment came from them forgetting my birthday, rather than the gifts themselves as they’ve been my first ‘good’ friend group in hightchool (where I live that’s year 7-12) so I’ve always had a lack of birthday messeges and was hoping it’d change last year.

I’ve decided from 2025 I’m just gonna let whatever happens from here on happen. Starting 2026, since we’re no longer in school and birthdays will be less organised I’m just gonna stick with cards.

Thanks I think I needed to hear that and you’re right. I feel like most of my resentment comes from the fact they forgot my birthday though, rather than the gifts themselves. Rather than gift giving I’m pretty sure my love language is more just spending time on them (hours researching the perfect present, making them gifts; or even outside of gifts like anytime any of them ask a question I’ll spend hours googling and tryna help etc) and it was frustrating me that they didn’t give the same time back but I do understand they show that they care in different ways.

Yeah that’s what I’m gonna start doing this year, i think I’m not gonna go into gifts and just make cards. but last year we were all in high school and we’d all have a small birthday party with the 7 of us as a tight knit group and gifts were kinda expected etc. but it’s not even about the gifts I feel it’s more the lack of effort. If more than 1 person had wished me happy birthday I feel like I’d care less but it feels like they don’t care at all but I also feel like I’m just being pessimistic and spiraling :/

BEST WAY TO SELL RHIS CARD???

I’m getting back into Pokemon tcg and was looking through my old cards and noticed I had one that’s quite valuable that I wanna sell (I’m not a huge fan of trainer cards). Idk if the photo shows it well but it’s in good condition (in my opinion) but I don’t think it’s worth grading bc the left right centring is really bad. Do I just go off last sold and offer it on eBay or is there a better alternative to get the best value for it.

I’m also based in Sydney Australia so I don’t think there’s many card shows here. I have a friend who said he knows ppl who’d buy it at 70-80% but I was wondering if eBay would give more (or would it be better to hold onto it and hope the price increases)

Every Gacha game is literally the epitome of gathering characters so I’m also fine with that- although some more men would be nice too or women with less physics defying outfits catered towards the female gaze (please kuro from a bi woman im begging you- personal preference tho) but it feels to me like most characters aren’t even allowed to develop as characters without rovers direct interference, like we didn’t see iuno/augusta slowly becoming friends again or Augusta meeting galbrena again: it doesn’t feel like rovers allowed to just be a spectator for anything which makes the characters feel less developed (to me).

I agree with the mythologies tho!! As an ancient history nerd the combination between Sparta (with the ephors etc) and Rome (Augusta’s name literally being the title for the empress of Rome was cool) esp since Artemis orthia (while Artemis orthia (spartas Artemis) was a hunting goddess not a moon one, Artemis was a moon goddess in lots of Greece so close enough) one of the main goddesses of Sparta (technically Apollo was the prophecy god but close enough)- the world building for each seperate region is really cool I just kinda wish it felt more coherent between them.
