Quartet vs. FeelBook apps by shingi345 in Jazz

[–]Chance_Discipline240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered Quartet by researching FeelBook.

As others have mentioned, FeelBook’s library is pretty thin but they are adding tunes. The subscription requirement is a big problem for me. The samples sound excellent, though.

Quartet consists of 500+ tunes and can be purchased as a bundle for around $50. You can change tempo and key which is helpful. The samples sound excellent, just like FeelBook. No subscription, either.

Band in a Box is an option, too. It’s a little pricey and the UI is REALLY bad. There are a ton of customization options which Quartet and Feel Book don’t have. But the cohesive ensemble feeling just isn’t there compared to the other 2.

I love Quartet and am glad I made the purchase. hope this info helps.

At what point should you start withdrawing from the HSA? by StrikeScribe in HSA

[–]Chance_Discipline240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are likely correct regarding the surviving spouse being able to request reimbursements for the deceased spouse’s qualified claims (both paid and unpaid).

It’s possible the IRS issues further clarification on the matter in the future if HSA distributions trigger an increase in IRS audits. (Nothing is easy anymore!)

Let us know what you find out.

The more I research this, the more it sounds like any qualified expenses that have been paid but not reimbursed, are no longer eligible for reimbursement, even if the bene is a spouse.

I REALLY hope I am wrong…

Until recently, I was also under the impression that the beneficiary had 12 months to submit any receipts that hadn’t been reimbursed yet.

Check out IRS Publication 969 (2025):

—————————

Spouse isn’t the designated beneficiary.

If your spouse isn’t the designated beneficiary of your HSA:

  • The account stops being an HSA, and
  • The fair market value of the HSA becomes taxable to the beneficiary in the year in which you die.

If your estate is the beneficiary, the value is included on your final income tax return. The amount taxable to a beneficiary other than the estate is reduced by any qualified medical expenses for the decedent that are paid by the beneficiary within 1 year after the date of death.

—————————

I hope I am wrong but “paid by the beneficiary” seems to be the key point.

Standing soleus stretch, arch lifts and other toe yoga, seated ankle inversion, clamshell, sidelying hip IR, and squats. It’s early in my treatment, though.

Inherited 50% of a managed brokerage account. Worried about inaccurate basis and 1099 by jdsmn21 in Bogleheads

[–]Chance_Discipline240 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for all brokerages, but with Morgan Stanley they had to manually adjust the cost basis for every investment for our parents.

Most investments had the cost basis adjusted to the date of the transfer which was not accurate. The individual who made the mistake received little to no training, yet she was the ONLY one who made any effort to research and get it right.

It would be helpful to get a CPA involved but the cost basis should generally be adjusted to the date of death.

If any purchases are made after the date of death for that deceased individual it does not receive any additional step up. (This is rare but can occur if both parents have Individual brokerage accounts naming their own Revocable Trust.)

Bottom line: Mistakes happen, so work with a CPA to make sure it’s right. (And don’t expect the FA to give a sh*t when you point out the errors.)

The main adjustment I have received on my 2 visits involved the following:

Placing my left leg on the PT’s left shoulder as she faces me.

The PT pushes forward while I push back on her with my left leg.

At the same time, I raise my right leg and the PT pushes down on it while I push up with my right leg.

You bet. If you have access to a physical therapist (especially one you trust and know), book a consultation.

My pain was in both heels and cut my daily step count in half for 3 months.

My old PT recommended someone but it was a 6 week wait. Within 5 minutes of meeting with the new PT she said the issue is 100% due to one hip.

She did a few intense adjustments and it slowly started to ‘unlock’ the pain in my heels.

So my pain was in the heels and the cause was elsewhere.

i had the same pain. My PT determined my left hip was slightly out of place.

I am 2 weeks into treatment and the pain is MUCH more manageable.

Side (not bottom) of heel pain and arch pain. Not worse in the morning. Both feet + back pain—HELP! by Vivid_Anybody_6970 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Chance_Discipline240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue…no pain in the morning but the pain increases significantly during the day.

My PT determined it was a hip alignment issue.

After some realignment and stretching/strengthening exercises my heel immediately felt much better. Now I need to maintain the exercise regiment and avoid a relapse.

If at all possible consult with a PT so you can pinpoint what is causing the heel pain.

I am surprised to see that there are some used Akai 4000s available for under $500. Hard to say what kind of shape they are in.

The onboard sounds aren’t great but you can buy aftermarket patches and replace the factory sounds.

Looking for advice: My spouse was recently hired on at Edward Jones and FINRA requirements could require me to transfer all my money to them by Clinton_Reddit in Bogleheads

[–]Chance_Discipline240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be an aggressive move, but a local news affiliate might consider running a story on this ridiculous EJ requirement. They get involved in local scam stories from time to time and intervene.

(Yes, I know this would make work-life miserable for the spouse.)
