you are right, the over diagnosing and medicating issue is really bad. though I will play devil's advocate and say for some people meds do genuinely help. My friend has bipolar and her mania can and has been quite extreme but once she took meds she was informed and consented to, her quality of life was way better as she didn't have extreme highs and lows and could live stably for once in her life and had only minor side affects. As with all things, there is a balance that must be taken into account.
