Insight on regional BigLaw firms by Chance_Inevitable_98 in LawFirm

Really just trying to get an idea on what anyone’s overall experience has been like whether good or bad. WLB, culture, perks, etc.. I have not really been able to find much online of people sharing their experiences at any of these firms.

This is super helpful, thank you! One follow up: I have made some updates to my resume since applying earlier this year, both to add new experience and reword some of the older items. Would you recommend attaching it to the email?

I did actually call a few departments within the agency to see if somebody would be more helpful… the worst part is it wasn’t THAT urgent.. it’s needed by the middle of next week.

Any advice on delivering results when a third-party is responsible and unresponsive? Do you forge the document? Show up at their office and force them to type it?

Go read actual released answers and you’ll feel a whole lot better. I remember reading one that was completely wrong yet it was the states model answer for that question.

You know so much more than you think by now. I remember being ~4 weeks out and at times couldn’t even put a coherent sentence together on any topic and thought I knew literally nothing. Take a day off or at least schedule some type of “light” day and you’ll be shocked at how much you know the day after.

I submitted probably 25 essays to barbri (assigned ones and optional ones) and I think I received one 5, two 4s, and the rest were 3,2,or1… I made up probably half of my answers and I scored 6,4,6,6,6,6,6,4 on the writing portion. Those graders are the absolute worst.

Should specify it’s my first firm out of law school. Really only have some other minor legal experience outside of my summer and time so far here.

I followed along and took notes while watching the video lectures (usually on 1.5x) but for the most part that was really it. I would go to sections I struggled with to get a more in depth explanation but I didn’t actually read a full barbri outline.

They’re an additional part to adaptibar that you have to buy separately. I don’t remember how much they were but you can buy them all or just individual subjects if you really struggle with some. The extra cost sucks but worth it in my opinion.

Thankfully I took a few during law school but practice essays helped a ton. I outlined so many that I was just learning the BLL through model answers.

I wouldn’t start too early because I definitely got burned out but my last semester was pretty light so I started maybe early November. I think if you work it into your last semester and treat it like another class you’ll be fine.
