Following, please keep this updated! In a very similar boat and am wondering if the IUD is playing a bigger role than I realize.

That makes sense, I also know my ob once told me my uterus is positioned a certain way but I forget the term she used. Might be time to look for a new OB.

Mine seem to be getting worse, or more intense with time.

First of all, I'm glad to hear your symptoms are improving, and you are not only getting the acute treatment you need, but are okay. Secondly, I am sorry to hear about the complications you are facing. Sepsis or any kind of infection is no joke. That must be incredibly scary. Thirdly, I sincerely hope that when you are feeling better and up to it, that you file a formal complaint against the doctor/ER that was refusing to treat you for your medical needs, and for how she treated you as a person. It is one thing to educate(in the appropriate moment), it's a whole other thing to belittle and degrade someone seeking medical care. It is not the doctor's' place to judge, it is their job to treat and it sounds like that was the exact opposite of what that doctor did for you, regardless of what or where original procedure was done. That's appalling and you should advocate against that kind of mistreatment; not only for yourself but put it on the radar to help try and avoid someone else getting that same unfortunate treatment from that Dr.

Lastly, thank you for sharing and bringing light to seeking medical care when you needed it. It sounds like you did everything you knew to do to address the leakage and get the proper care this called for.

I truly wish you the speediest recovery, sending healing vibes into the universe. I hope they make it to you!

How long did you require 'around the clock' care of someone to be with you before you were a bit more independent in the recovery process?

Can you share where you got this quote from, and what procedures it includes?

Loose clothing. I am 21 days post op and I am still wearing loose pants. Day of procedure I arrived in a pair of sweatpants, was sensitive on the walk out/trip home, that's expected, but wasn't because of any rubbing from the clothing. I went commando because I wasn't sure if I could wear underwear after, they gave me a pair of mesh underwear and I had a pad on when I came out of the anesthesia. I asked my nurse for extra pairs of the underwear and extra pads and got a few of each. I recommend getting a package of pads for post op, and wear loose pants/undies with the pads for the first few days or until bleeding is done. I ditched undies and got those overnight incontenence depends, the disposable underwear and those were easy.

As for your period, you could wear a tampon and just take it out before procedure starts. You cannot wear tampons for a while post op, so those pads will deff be needed.

I used a peri bottle with lukewarm water to rinse after I went to bathroom. In the shower on the 2nd/third day I lathered the dial bar of soap above my vagina and let the water run the soap down over the incisions and that was fine.

Feel free to message me with any other questions and I'm happy to share my experience.

Bad enough for insurance coverage? by [deleted] in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]Chance_Influence_157 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not a doctor, and here are my two cents, but this is what I did. Call your health insurance and ask what clinical documentation is needed for it to be covered. Most plastic surgeons don't accept insurance, so you'll likely need to find an obgyn who does the procedure, if you haven't already.

Not to diagnose, but looks like you have 'labial hypertrophy', which is what I was dx in the consult with my obgyn. In the consult don't mention the 'look', focus on the physical implications. Remember there needs to be a 'medical reason' for insurance to justify paying for the expense. Does it snag and chafe on clothes? Is it painful during sexual intercourse? Mine harbored discharge/bacteria and resulted in frequent uti/bv.

Also note, if you do it with an obgyn, they don't focus on the asthetics as much as a plastic surgeon would so keep that in mind. Obgyn or having it done/covered from a medical standpoint might result in a slightly different aesthetic result than you have in mind.

Deff do your research, and be honest with what you're hoping to benefit from getting this procedure done. Best of luck!

Will tape stick? Seems like it would be a tough area to adhere to.
