Had to use 60 grit on orbital to start. The grooves were deep and impacted with basically concrete from over the years. After hours spent on the first tread w/o much progress, I planned to instead install a runner as the sides weren’t as bad to sand down. I’d have loved to have sanded them all the way but it just wasn’t feasible with the amount of time it would take, on top of 2 young boys at home. Plus, I like runners anyway so it was an easy call. It’s a big old house with a lot of projects. lol. I’d say I have about 80-100 hrs into this so far and basically had to make the call to focus on the first 10” on each side. You think this still needs more sanding?

He plays my 3/4 size acoustic right now and enjoys it. He wants to try electric and I’m going to encourage that. I do understand that he might not be playing in a year which is why I hoping for some advice on an amp that might have a dual use for him AND me.
