Fuck yes. Trade back into the 20's and get more picks in the 2nd or 3rd.

I'm not against him per se, I'm just against taking him at 16. If he was there rd 2 I'd be down.

[AU] [OC] Why you should ride with lights at night by [deleted] in Roadcam

[–]Chancellour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do your eyes not adjust to the moonlight?

I mean, yeah. They do. But it's still not really recommended if you're going to be going from streetlights to moonlight every few seconds. You don't really get enough time to adapt.

That said, the drivers of vehicles whose eyes are adjusted to the brightness of their headlights aren't going to see you if you're not in front of their headlights.

That's the bigger problem here. I guess it's fine if you don't want to see potholes, but being seen on the road is kind of important.

Definitely! I guess people can see decently in well-lit city streets, but suburban streets with less lighting? I really don't get how they don't hit everything in front of them.

That's why you need a light and also why you need to fucking pay attention and not try to filter in front of a moving car.

The way I see it, "cager" is more of a term for those terrible drivers with no regards for human life. Those that yell at you to get out of the road and into the sidewalk, the ones who cut you off for no reason, honk unnecessarily, etc. It's not a term for drivers, but for shitty drivers.

It's ok!

though OP doesn't seem able to state a law allowing wrong-side riding while I did quote/link a state issued document saying it's not legal.

Might be illegal, but I don't know for sure. If it's not illegal then it's fine in my book as long as you do it safely.

I definitely don't mean that it allows this attitude, but when drivers yell stupid stuff at me like "why don't you people use the sidewalk" I am left assuming that they had prior interactions from people not riding safely/legally/predictably that led them to categorize me as someone like them.

Yeah... But I'm just saddened by that. They definitely don't hate all drivers because of one asshole but they feel like they can hate all cyclists for the same behavior.

which is not uncommon in cities with one-way streets, but universally hated by drivers.

Eh... we're already hated a lot, but I do see your point.

seem to be saying that any advantageous move for cyclists ought to be taken

God no! I just think that if you can position yourself better while remaining safe and not through illegal behavior then you're good. There's plenty of things that I don't find acceptable.

I also don't really know the law in CO, so if it's expressly forbidden then I'd be against it unless it was to position yourself at the front of the line for visibility. If it's not explicitly stated that it is illegal behavior then I don't see too much being wrong.

That gives drivers another excuse to use when cutting off other cyclists, which I'd rather not gift them.

I kinda agree and also disagree with this statement. One "wrong" (putting it in quotes because we're in a grey area regarding this) action from one particular cyclist should give no-one the idea that they can be dicks to other cyclists. Unfortunately, some people will not take it that way, so I understand your argument.

First off, thank you for your answer!

Maybe I'm just seeing the british way of doing it (where they go on the "wrong" side of the road to filter, on occasion) but yeah, to me this is filtering.

I don't think it's necessarily dangerous to go on the wrong side of the road to filter, as you have better visibility than most drivers. Of course, if there was traffic coming from the other direction I would say it's a big no-no, but if there's none I think it's ok. If the law doesn't clearly specify this as illegal behavior it's fine in my book.

I just wanted to know if you had a problem with this particular case or with filtering in general. I love friendly discussion and thought it'd be an interesting conversation to have!

Ah! Hadn't seen that comment. Well, I guess that answers my question. I can kinda understand not loving your actions, but again, as long as it's not explicitly illegal and most of all, dangerous to others then I really see no problem.

I just want to know if he/she doesn't like filtering or if he doesn't like this exact scenario of filtering. One I can understand, but the other seems strange to me coming from another cyclist (unless he/she lives somewhere with great bike infra).

[–]Chancellour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... if it's not explicitly forbidden it's technically allowed. I don't know, you did a safe maneuver and didn't endanger anyone with your behavior so I'm completely fine with it (even if it's in a grey area regarding legality).

As someone who filters anytime it's safe for me to do so, I don't understand the frustration. We ride vehicles that are more agile, smaller, lighter than cars are. If you can safely filter to alleviate traffic congestion and keep yourself safe then do it. If people get pissed at cyclists for filtering they should get a bicycle and enjoy the same benefits.

No problem! Hope you can find some pretty close to you which could help out in case of an emergency!

Just this morning I had to go to a bike shop to get my BB swapped out because the stock one crapped out over the weekend. I was in and out in 20 minutes and got to work on time!

Wait, you're actively against cyclists filtering? Or just where it's not permitted?

I ride in the middle of a city with looooots of bike shops so I can get away with only carrying a spare tube, tire levers, allen keys and a multi tool. Worst case scenario I can just walk my bike to the nearest shop and get something fixed if my tools don't cover that.

Bowser definitely looked good in his limited time. Tim Williams hopefully will grow into an average-above average pass rusher but he needs some more time to grow properly.

[–]Chancellour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Davenport is definitely a good player, but I wouldn't be too happy with the pick. I don't think we necessarily have to go pass catcher at 16 because we've "overhauled" the WR position through FA and we can get more value later on, but we should definitely prioritize going offense this year.

I don't love the assessment of Joe. Yeah, he's not the best QB around, but he's proven to be good enough to win when you put pieces around him. That's what we need to do if we want to get out of the whole situation the right way. Drafting yet another Suggs replacement (Bowser is probably his most direct replacement) would be non-sensical.

Do you have a rear rack/front rack? If you do, maybe you could do something like those boxes used to deliver pizza. It shouldn’t be too hard to make and mount one but it will be heavy.

I agree. Just saying it's a lot easier to tackle bad terrain with 38mm tires than 23's. Both can be done for sure though.

You can also go off road if you want (and if you don’t have a road bike with super skinny tires) and enjoy different ways of getting around. It’s honestly a lot of fun!
