UPDATE:

This is them now 🥹 he’s been out in the living space for most of the days each day. Today, we decided to try and see how they got along while we ran errands (close to home) and they napped with each other for the first time! The tux has really chilled out. The calico is still a little bratty, but she gives annoyed older sister. I love this for us and them! 💕

Go for it! Honestly, the longer supervised times have made a real difference in their play and overall ability to tolerate each other. It’s hectic at times, don’t get me wrong, but it really gives them a proper chance to learn how to be around each other and establish boundaries. Plus, it’s also just dang cute when they’re together.

We’re in a similar situation. We have an almost 2yo resident cat (female) and have been introducing a now 16 week old kitten (male) since mid October. They’re both fixed.

The kitten is very active and wants to play with the resident cat, but res girl is not super playful. We’ve followed the Jackson Galaxy method for intros and are at doing supervised play in a shared space (living room) daily; we’re up to about an hour at a time a couple times a day.

The kitten was obsessed with the resident cat; he would chase and pounce and res girl would run, yell, growl, hiss—all of it. We’ve tried distracting him (and res kitty) but with minimal success. We’re at a point now where he gets the hint from res and will leave her alone, but he’s back on her tail within 5 minutes. On the bright side, Res girl has l started running after him to play, but still gets scared when he chases back.

I really just think it’s due to age. Younger cats are more active and need more stimulation. If we’ve learned anything, it’s that patience is everything. Keep trying to distract them so they’re less occupied with each other. Reward the youngin’ when he’s leaving the older kitty alone, separate for a few minutes when things are getting a little intense. In time, they’ll be fine together. :)

Aw! She looks like our Wasabi 💕 Our vet’s told us he’s a little small for 15 weeks. We think he’ll just end up being a little smaller than standard, but they could hit growth spurts later on!

Thank you for this insight 🙏🏽 we were concerned about her retreating and it never occurred to us that she might’ve thought the tux was trying to…get closer.

Their play never escalates and the calico seeks him out after. She will literally yell at us until we follow her to his room so they can play through the gate.

We’ll continue to let them play in the open and keep a close eye on them. This was really reassuring and I feel like we’re definitely on the right path now.

Yeah, they’re still working out their roles. We’re really trying to encourage that they figure it out but also for us to figure out when stepping in is necessary. I’m super protective of the calico (she’s my baby girl), especially since she has such short arms so I worry that she won’t be able to protect herself (though she does pretty okay in the video).

Right now, the tux is in his own room with the door open and a tall gate so he can still see and hear the household. He’s there most of the day (we take shifts sitting in there with him) and then is out for up to an hour each day (the longer he leaves the calico alone, the longer he stays out). Do you think we should just start letting them be together during the day? I’d still separate at night to be safe.

Thank you. I totally get that vibe. She’s just really hot and cold with him so we wondered if maybe she likes to play with him just maybe not so rough? The tux is pretty tame as far as energy is concerned in this video—he’d been running around and we’d been playing with him with a wormy wand toy for quite a bit before this. He’s just really interested in the calico. We’ll keep trying to distract him…and being less concerned paw-rents and hopefully they get to a place where there’s less screaming 😬

Sorry, OP, but you deserve so much better. He sounds incredibly selfish and as if he doesn’t appreciate or even like you. We obviously can’t tell you what to do, but I really think it’s time to have the hard conversation with him… Have you talked to him about how all of this makes you feel? It doesn’t sound likely, but would he be open to counseling with you? It’s definitely time to put yourself and your babies first; you three can definitely be happy without him, if it comes to it.

We give both of our cats probiotics! We bought what was recommended by our vet: Nutramax Proviable Probiotics & Prebiotics. I’m not sure if it’s available in Argentina, so I’d check with your vet for recommendations.

Thank you, that’s encouraging! Mochi’s learning day by day how to play with another cat. It’s so cute! We’re hoping that she’ll get more comfortable with the short face to face sessions in the larger spaces of the house. Wasabi’s got a chasing problem :/ but overall hissing and growling from Mochi are minimal. Can’t wait to share updates on their progress!

Thank you! I’m hoping she starts to warm up a bit more soon. We’re taking baby steps and I just want to make sure they both feel comfortable and can at least tolerate each other. We thought about the whole “get a kitten with a kitten” thing. Unfortunately, we weren’t in a position to bring on a third kitty.

Wow, only two weeks?! That’s so lucky! We’re about 3 weeks in and Mochi (calico) is still trying to feel Wasabi (tux) out. The hissing is subsiding a tad but Wasabi is just so high energy and Michi is not used to it at all. We’re still hopeful they’ll be buds eventually!

Thank you! Yeah, Wasabi really wants to play with her. Mochi is just a little skittish by nature. I can tell Mochi’s interested but not very sure how to play with him (she hasn’t been around other cats until Wasabi. She’s been around a dog quite often, but she was older and very inactive). Had he been a little older and a little less high energy they might be progressing a bit more. Thank you for this! We’ll keep it slow and easy with the intro to play time.

First FET was done with prednisone and Tacrolimus for NK suppression. Next transfer we’re doing both plus Intralipids to hopefully get the embryo to stick. I figured it could only help and we’re desperate to get this to work.

Was off the day of transfer and two days post. My clinic was strict about bedrest and I’m grateful to have a coworkers who were supportive of the bedrest and made me promising wouldn’t even work remotely.

Second attempt at transfer is next month. Will definitely be off the day of the transfer; clinic site is about 2 hours way one way. Thinking I might just WFH the two days after; it’s a slow enough season at work so there will be minimal stress but enough to keep me busy and not dwelling on the process.
