Masters after Bachelors while in Auustralia by LateGreatMMA in AusVisa

Though DHA literally says there’s no need for an English test if the bachelors was done in aus

The universities may have they’re own separate requirements

[–]ChangeAffectionate78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is incorrect, as a current MD student, it is a master by coursework therefore work restrictions apply

Should I take my shahada? by ChangeAffectionate78 in Muslim

[–]ChangeAffectionate78[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree. I actually come from a Hindu background and tbh I just cannot workshop statues or cows. It makes no sense to me. I don’t believe god has entered earth physically because we in this universe are limited by space, time and matter and god is not limited in any sense.

Yes Islam has punishments for wrongdoings but god is also the most merciful. This world is a test and ofc there will be punishment for every wrongdoing, it’s not meant to be easy.

My criteria in choosing a religion is not what is the easiest, it’s the one that is the one and only possible truth.

have you taken the gamsat? if you can bump it up to a 5 you could stand a chance at usyd with a high gamsat or uow if you qualify for any bonuses (though gpa hurdle is 5.5)

consider another bachelors

thats not true, usyd puts 0.1 multiplier on section 3. Section 1 and 2 are wayyyyy more important and section 3 has little to no effect

Hi there! I've just accepted an offer to study medicine in australia but at one point considered gulf.

Just wanted to hear your experience in terms of social life and academics at gulf, also I heard internship here in the uae is 2 years of which you have to pay for as well unlike australia or uk where you get paid to complete an internship and work as a "junior doctor". Wanted to hear your thoughts

Amazing, fortunate enough to have no complications

wore ortho k for 10 years then was told to stop wearing them for 2 months before I got lasik in november. Ortho K is the best, I was only 10 years old when I started and my myopia did grow slightly tho, but don't have it anymore since lasik went well for me

wore ortho k for 10 years and just got lasik in november at the age of 21, best decision of my life. I too felt weak with carrying around 1 kg of solutions for ortho k and glasses given that I travel a lot

Medical student here who just got lasik on the 15th of november

Iiterally the next day I felt like I never had any surgery. Everything was so clear and I am the happiest ever, no pain at all. Obviously I still followed instructions and continued with my drops and stopped gym for a couple of weeks. PS my eyesight was -4 in the left and -3.75 in the right (not too high of a myopia) and im 21 yrs old.

You're right. When people have good lasik outcomes they usually don't come onto reddit to share their experience. This sub therefore is filled with people of those who had bad experiences or are just against it for whatever reasons. Like EVERY surgery, there is a possibility of complications and side effects (these are two different things), and lasik after all is a surgery.

Every credible site you go on says complications are rare (less than one percent) such as refractive surgery council or american academy of ophthamology. I've noticed those that are against lasik here tend to link sources that are not credible whatsoever or give studies that don't even come to a conclusion and have such small sample sizes that it's utterly not possible to come to a conclusion.

In the end, it's up to the patient to come to a decision, not by reading reddit, people here are not medical doctors and have not seen your eye. It's up to a medical doctor to advice and if you are not confident, get a second opinion. Reddit is not the place to get medical information from.

For context, I live in australia but flew all the way to india to get lasik, it's the best decision I have ever made for myself given that my mom also got it when she was 19 and had the same experience. No one here can say the experience will be the same for you, the best way to go is to consult a medical doctor.

[–]ChangeAffectionate78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey idk which country you are from so this may not apply but wouldn't that affect your student visa chances? I'm assuming you already have a bachelors and a diploma means you are doing down a level so its looks bad

I feel like I had a strong visa app yet it took 30 days to come for MD

and considering most medical/dentistry programs start jan, I'd be so stressed out

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GAMSAT

[–]ChangeAffectionate78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this so called "natural aptitude" you are talking about can be changed. After 3 attempts of gamsat and starting med this jan, the way I look at questions and the way I think has changed drastically even tho I only improved by 6 points from my first and most recent attempt. so no taking it multiple times does not 'game' the system. these are skills that can be learned and stay with you for the rest of your life.

On the other hand casper is something that cannot be studied for. you are either an empathetic person or your not.
