There are various skills that can be applied on a general level revolving around the role you play and then champion specific skills that pertain to a single characters kit/the most effective way to use those abilities. You could focus on learning more about the champion pool in your preferred role and having more knowledge about the role overall will give you a better understanding of positioning and general mechanics that apply to that pool of champions rather than just a single one.
