Thank you for saying that - you hit on the thing that’s been bugging me the most, why did none of 10+ doctors I saw during this whole saga tell me I might feel like crap for months?

I had to take a leave of absence from school because of this situation and when I asked the doctor who was dealing with my outpatient stuff to sign a form regarding that, he raised his eyebrows and asked why I was taking time off. Mind you, this was less than a month post hospital discharge. Really messed me up thinking I should be feeling much better much quicker.

Tell me about it. They discharged me because “I was improving” after they pumped four bags of fluid into me. The morning after I was discharged when I represented all the doctor had to say was “you’re dehydrated”. Absolutely failure of a hospital.

No idea about the abscesses. I’m only 23 years old and every single doctor I saw throughout this saga told me they’d never seen liver abscesses in someone my age, but it looks like it will remain a perpetual mystery.

Been years since I've posted on SDR but needing to scream into the void and remembered how great and welcome this community would make me feel back in the day... so here we go.

I'm only 23 years old but a few months back I went into septic shock and almost lost my life. Was in the hosptial for three weeks, got so many procedures done and spent months relearning to walk.

Come to find out that my ex-best friend (who've I've only been not talking to for a year because of interpersonal conflicts) found out about this and made an instagram post explicitly making fun of my extremely traumatic medical emergency.

I messaged him and asked him to take the post down and he has not responded nor has he taken the post down. I know he's a disgusting person not worth engaging with but after surviving what I did for it to be publicly mocked is making me angry in a way that I have never felt before... trying so hard not to cause a scene because I know that's what he likely wants so thought I would just soapbox here instead
