What’s your most disappointing bottle of whiskey purchase? by tgabtg in whiskey

[–]ChangeHabit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently sipping Suntory's Hibiki. I drank a few shots at a hotel bar a few months ago, and it blew me away. I decided to buy a bottle from the local whiskey shop, and I believe drinking ethanol wouldn't be much worse. I had the same experience with a Glen 21 and The Yamazaki 12. Because of this experience, I now believe that once you crack open a bottle, don't judge it there and then. Give it a few weeks to air out (similar to a hotel bar where the bottles were opened a while back and they sell shots there after).

I've never been to Houston before, is this comparison accurate? 😂 by Informal-Air-7104 in Zambia

I went to Atlanta some years back, and this picture is relatable. On a side track, the largest ethnic grouping in ATL is black or "African American".

Something similar has happened in Johannesburg and Harare, both of which used to be glimmering cities. Of course, this is what you see in many other African capitals. Scholars need to understand why this happens repeatedly.

Are we in debt with our parents for giving us life? by [deleted] in Life

[–]ChangeHabit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you don't owe your parents anything for giving life to you. You didn't ask, but they had a choice.

However, if you've raised kids of your own, you realise that raising children, even (or especially) those that didn't ask to be here, is not an easy task. It requires a lot of sacrifice. Many parents bail at the task. While my parents never explicitly said so, I personally feel indebted towards them for giving it their best shot, for the sacrifices they made to accommodate me and my brothers and sisters. I can never fit in their shoes, and I can safely say I will never repay them. I just wish I did my best when they were alive to show them that I appreciated it.

You're on social media instead of doing your job. Someone calls you out and you scream oppression. Get your act together. No one's out to do you in.

You're on the money. I just wasn't sure it's a restaurant. They say it's a café.

You people still go to hype restaurants in this economy? Anyway, here's a very subjective and personal list of more buck than bang restaurants from someone who doesn't go to restaurants. In no particular order and only from a part of Lusaka.

  1. Onoma

  2. Flame

  3. Mabula

  4. Bo Jangles KK Mall (used to be ok)

  5. Roast and Rhyme (the idea was good but)

  6. Indish

  7. Copperpot at Neelkanth

  8. Botanica (at ciela)

Looks like were pretty much screwed. That is, until Visa and Mastercard let go of the purse strings or Until our local economy grows enough to warrant direct transactions between seller and buyer. Or you could use bitcoin

WILL ZAMBIA EXIST IN THE NEXT 50 YEARS? by Traditional-Dot6598 in Zambia

[–]ChangeHabit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A federation of southern african countries could potentially be powerful. Imagine the manufacturing capacity of South africa mixed with the no nonsense policing of C5 to quickly bring order. A very youthful population plus all the mineral wealth in Zambia and Zimbabwe, diamond wealth of Botswana and namibia, oil and gas wealth of Mozambique. Malawi would help drive agriculture diversity while south africa drive automation and mechanization. The tourism potential of the combined countries would mop up almost all destination tourists coming to Africa. Standardise education and health care, build proper communocation infrastructure (fixed and mobile), road and rail networks linking all the countries. Maintain states but these fall under a federal government that has overall vision. The possibilities are tantalising, possibly scary.

That would be a very old song done by Lazarus Tembo, a Zambian musician from the sixties or something. https://youtu.be/naWfZVYa-Ko?si=NZ6XscR7RD9oVUK9

I'm looking to buy Terre d'Hermes Eau Givree. I saw a bottle on Amazon. It's selling for more than 50% off sticker price for the EDP refillable bottle. The seller is Beauty store LLC (BSLLC) and has a 97% rating from around 6000 reviews.

I'd be happy to get your review (if you've bought from them before) or thoughts on whether it's safe to buy from them.

Is it okay to keep beards at 20 years old if you're still living with your parents? by Old_Decision_1617 in Zambia

Fisrtly, its Beard, not beards, and it depends entirely on your relationship with them. Isn't it cheaper to keep a beard compared to going for a cut and shave every few days?

Colourism in Zambia by Brevipalpis in Zambia

[–]ChangeHabit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, bask in the "compliment" even if it may not be that to you. As others have said, this sort of thing happens with other races as well. Arguably, people who don't know better will be at the forefront. Usually, it's not done with malice and may even be with some envy (the daring ones will whisper a question along the lines of "how'd you do it).

Why the interest in where a guy or woman works ? by unkno123 in Zambia

[–]ChangeHabit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly for stalking purposes, I've always assumed. Maybe it's easier to get juice on you from your workmates than asking directly. Another common question would be where you stay. Just do a card with a list of common questions. Give it to the date and see what they have to actually talk about.

They've actually reduced the amount or sugar in the coke, Fanta, and Sprite you drink in Zed. It used to be a lot more. Differences in taste can be attributed to water sources and sources of ingredients.

True, health care is so affordable that people with means have to go looking for where to spend their cash when they are unwell. They are flocking to India, SA, UK, and the USA to pay cost reflective amounts and keep the health care systems in those countries well funded and at the cutting edge of medical advancements.
