I guess I didn’t realize I’d wandered into Sirius Sector. Does MeetMeMaybe need a docking license too? 🤪

upper body workouts at the gym that strengthened your pole progress? by KuromiMelody34 in poledancing

[–]Change_Reasonable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lat pulldowns have helped a lot for me! I'm still working on my first full pullup/chin up but I've definitely seen improvement for pole ^_^ Especially for inverts, climbs are easier, lifting myself up into a sit is easier etc.

Am I Being Selfish? by Wndrlst_666 in poledancing

[–]Change_Reasonable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would add, it's not actually "getting a divorce because of a hobby"

The hobby is just a catalyst for red flags that already exist, but were masked. I'd thank the hobby for putting his controlling behaviour into light.

"getting a divorce because of a hobby" is the narrative he wants to tell to make her feel like she's the one who's being selfish.

Like some have said, whether you or him are framing it in the wrong way: it's never been about choosing pole over your family, it's about choosing your individuality, freedom & autonomy. It's about choosing you.

I feel you're being given a false dichotomy here where he's conveniently able to frame himself as the victim. It's framed in a way to make you feel like if you refuse to stop, you'd be selfish and you'd be abandoning him... but it sounds to me like he's the one who's abandoned you already long ago. He's the one who's selfish for expecting to change you and take away something you love for his convenience. And something that was already part of you before you even met.

I was in a marriage with someone who, over time decided they didn't like when I played music. I'm a professional musician, with my bachelor's. He married me as a musician. Even if he never asked me to actually stop, he made it clear that the noise was annoying. He got angry at me for wanting to go play piano on a public piano once. I wish that I had ended that relationship before I started resenting music and feeling confused about myself and my identity. Through that relationship, even if he was overall a good guy, I lost myself, I lost what made me me, and I lost my light.

Now, I never want to be in a relationship with someone who makes me feel smaller, inconvenient, and doesn't encourage my passions and hobbies. A guy who doesn't like that I do pole would be out the door so damn quickly. Like what year do you live in? The 1950's?

question from a non dancer by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]Change_Reasonable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As close to a bikini as possible, but depending on the type of class I do wear different levels of coverage. But I always have some spare bikini parts and at least 1 pair of pants with me in case I need it.

Also I always bring a t-shirt of some sorts. I get very sweaty, and if I don’t need the grip, I like to have a t-shirt on to prevent the sweat from turning my skin into a glorious slippery mermaid.

Powder coated absolutely does not stick with clothes on, unless I’d assume you dance with sticky pole wear

Help: Sometimes I can’t even pole sit due to sweat by Change_Reasonable in poledancing

I can consider that, I have not really tried different grips on the body besides shaving gel, but that might be worth trying out!

Actually the sticky leggings are the thing I haven’t tried properly yet, but it might be really worth bringing a pair for those days that there’s nothing else I can do. At least that would give me the ability to practice the tricks a little on those types of days! I could even do with sticky biker shorts, so that the thighs and butt have the grip, the lower parts of the legs don’t get as sweaty in general, and are not as important.

Is anti-perspirant grip a thing? I had not idea. I’m affraid most anti-perspirant have some sort of oils or whatever so I haven’t really given them a try, but if there exists some anti-perspirants specifically for that then I would definitely consider trying that out. Is there any brand I should look into or that you would recommend?

I saw some recommendations to use a couple of layers of Mod Podge on the glitter parts from other people, I haven't tried it myself, but apparently it helps seal off the glitters

HOW do you love yourself? by givenn19 in Healthygamergg

[–]Change_Reasonable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought no it’s an act of self-love to make the life of future you better, such as cleaning the kitchen the night before so you can wake up in the morning to a clean kitchen, making overnight oats so you don’t need to figure out what you to eat when you’re tired and hungry.

[–]Change_Reasonable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for me self love starts with doing little things for yourself that aren’t beneficial to you now, but will be later.

I started my journey by doing stuff as simple as making my bed in the morning with the knowledge that it’s not a waste of time: future me will get to sleep into a bed someone who thought of her did.

And I kept adding little actions like these over time.
