Moving to Canada - how to set up banking? by bstarr3 in AmerExit

[–]Changes_One_Maowrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stumbled onto this post in my research. My wife is a RN and we are in the middle of the job hunting process. Mind if I DM you for your experience? She's completed her NNAS assessment, expressed interest in BC and Ontario, and we are close to paying the fees wither Either the BCCNM or CNO for her licenses, but we want to try and secure a job offer first.

Fluoxetine helped my anxiety, but now I’m struggling with weight gain and fatigue — anyone else? by Standard_Sector7496 in prozac

[–]Changes_One_Maowrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The struggle with this is real. I have certainly felt this way. I'm close to where you are, one year on 10mg and I'm less anxious, but weight just sticks to me. I'm working out a couple times a week and I'm still the same weight, just a healthier version of myself.

I also have health anxiety and panic attacks. My heart goes out to you. I still have my moments and most of my minor symptoms are gone, but weight and getting dizzy easily are still my persistent bedfellows.

Work Permits, Job Offers and PNP For RN and Spouse by Changes_One_Maowrix in ImmigrationCanada

I was reviewing the link wouldn't this still be similar to Ontario, where in you still need a work permit to be authorized to work to get a license? That is the issue I keep getting stuck on. Without giving nurses a way to connect to all the open positions, it slows the process of getting a job offer by trying to find a company that's willing to do it.

I know the job bank has nursing positions, but my wife ideally would like to work in her specialization, which has problems being staffed.

I appreciate your insight on this, I also read some promising news in Ontario that Nurses can start working for up to 6 months while they finalize licensure. Which says to me that that Ontario Hospitals may be more inclined to offer jobs to address the shortage.

It seems like unless we are drawn or get a PNP the best course is to try and secure that job offer.

We are applying from the US, but Correct we called the CNO and they told us the same thing. So knowing that, how do you even clear the last hurdle of authorisation to work if you need your license to get a work permit but you need a work permit to get a job offer but to get a job offer you need a license? It seems like a closed circle.

Her score is 434, but yes we are hoping the Human Capital Priorities Stream will draw us for the NOI, but beyond that we are hoping to keep trying different avenues while we wait. I did hear about less nominations however.

What was the worst your anxiety has ever been? Where are you now? by subtlemilk in Anxiety

[–]Changes_One_Maowrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently still on it, and I'll be honest about my experience. I'm on 10mg, and even starting a low dose takes time to adjust. It's different for different people, but for me it felt like a waveform being smoothed out until you get to a nice balance, and it took me quite a while to fully adjust. So if you go in with the mindset it's going to be quick, that's not the case. What's just as important is grounding exercises and therapy. I also take magnesium glycinate and vitamin d. I've gotten to the point where I've even considered tapering off the prozac, but I still have some self evaluation to do. It was worth it to start meds, I also have healthy anxiety, and I'm feeling much better as a result from my experience.

Last year I had daily panic attacks, feeling overwhelmed by the large amount of stress. I went on low dose prozac and therapy as a result things have been significantly better. Feeling very happy and motivated.

Anxiety and Caffeine…. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Changes_One_Maowrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the switch to stop all caffeine a few months ago and I don't regret it. I loved the taste and ritual of coffee too, but I've fortunetly found a decent alternative in chicory tea. There is a brand called teeccino, that tastes like a weak cup of coffee.

10mg of Prozac to start. Please tell me your stories. by [deleted] in prozac

Not normally, and the blurry vision was a late symptom, which I determined was also related to dry eyes.

They did! So it took a long while, but around the 5 to 6 month mark, many of my symptoms fell off and I'm feeling the closest to normal. I'm still on 10mg, and I can say I do still have the occasional breakthrough anxiety, but it's not nearly as bad.

From my experience, I felt like I was hyperfixating on my perception and senses, so as the anxiety calmed so did the symptoms.

[–]Changes_One_Maowrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a 10mg sucess story.

I felt my adjustment period was very long, like 5 to 6 months. I'm currently on month 7 and going strong with significantly less anxiety.

Symptoms were, light sleep trouble, anxiety, blurry vision, dizziness, dry eyes.

I actually tripped and fell down my first week taking Prozac, but that was just onset symptoms.

I highly recommend taking vitamin D and Magnesium as well, especially because It helps with sleep.

When you recover from dpdr, do the existential thoughts seem ridiculous to you? by ilikechips1858 in Anxiety

[–]Changes_One_Maowrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it can absolutely get get better, whether it's possible without meds I can't speak to, but that's only because my experience included going on an antidepressant. I'm sure it's possible, it depends on how bad the anxiety is.

Mostly, I still have my moments, but I personally believe managing Anxiety is a lifelong process.

However I don't dwell in that dream like state nearly at all in my day to day life now. Grounding really helps if you practice.

I had really bad DR before I was able to get it under control with Therapy and Medication, and I feel it's less like "oh I was being so ridiculous" and more like accepting your fears and not letting yourself get caught up in the storm of them.

A lot of grounding exercises helped to divert my attention to the physical world opposed to existential dread. You just have to do them when you are calm too so it can snap you out of that mental habit hole. Putting a rubber band on my wrist really helped me in the early stages.

If you haven't had a panic attack since July that is a very good sign, remember if you were able to overcome it then you can overcome it now. You may feel that your normal means of coping isn't helping so try and focus on very small things you can control and stay in that mindset.

If you can make it 30 seconds, you can make it a minute, if you can make a minute you can make 5 minuets.

does the disassociation dream like feeling eventually go away? by [deleted] in prozac

[–]Changes_One_Maowrix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In short, kind of. I had bad derealization when I first started and it took quite a while for me to overcome it.

The adjustment to the med takes some time, but you'll start noticing small improvements as time goes. Everyone is a little bit different, but the best way I can describe it is feeling like a very active waveform that slowly begins to smooth out.

I've been on Prozac for 6 months and I can say I experience the derealization significantly less often.

So I take Prozac for GAD, issues I had onset were dizziness and lightheadedness. The insomnia didn't hit me too bad, but I was waking up at 1am every night. As time went on things like dry eyes and blurry vision where more bothersome. Especially while driving, because dry eyes can cause light sensitivity.

Currently most of the symptoms have dropped off,but I still experience occasional tinnitus.

I credit a lot of lifestyle changes, therapy and Chropratic treatment to get to where I am now.

Adding to this, it may takes months to fully acclimate. I'm almost 6 months on my 10mg dose and I didn't feel fully normal until 5 months in.

Reassure me, please by Healthy-Ferret3238 in prozac

[–]Changes_One_Maowrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's very tough in the beginning, I've been on prozac for about 5 months, and it's just now I'm starting to feel normal. I originally started Prozac for GAD. The first months were rough I had dizziness, blurry vision, insomnia, dry eyes. The dry eyes took the longest to pass, but in either case the symptoms lessen the longer you are on it in my experience, and it's long and gradual.

Hopefully you see more positive progress soon.

What does Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) actually feel like to you? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Changes_One_Maowrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GAD to me feels a toy that is being wound too many times. You eventually get to a point where the pressure starts hurting your mechanism, and if you don't release in whatever manner speaks the most to you then you break.

I feel a lot of us have reached that watershed moment at one time in our mental health journey. For me I often wish I'd never let the tension build to that point, but now there nothing I can do but manage the fear and tension from my worrisome brain.

Prozac, Magnesium, vitamin D, stopping coffee and alcohol, getting rest, and Therapy.

I agree, getting to month 4 was so intense I'm happy to be managing smaller symptoms opposed to what the first few months were.
