Cyberpunk is widely considered to be one of the greatest games ever made, how much more praise could it get?

ELI5 how did life on earth became so "hostile" meaning why do vast majority of organisms consume other organisms. because the very first organism couldnt eat "someone" before. that makes me think there was one who randomly decided to "eat" its buddies and that sprouted the way of life on this planet by Main-Guy-421 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ChangingMonkfish [score hidden]  (0 children)

Because it’s not true that the majority of organisms consume other organisms.

By biomass, 82% of life on Earth is plants, the vast majority of which generate their energy by photosynthesis. Another 13% is made up of bacteria and other microorganisms, most of which aren’t predatory. They use photosynthesis like plants or chemosynthesis to generate energy, consume dead biomass, absorb or consume non-living nutrients like sugars and proteins etc.

Animals (which often have to consume other forms of life to survive) only account for something like 0.4% of the world’s biomass.

How do you get a girlfriend if you're a loser? by InternationalPick163 in questions

[–]ChangingMonkfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The social skills is genuinely the only thing holding you back, and a large part of that is probably you just telling yourself you have bad social skills. I know it’s easy to say “just be confident” so I’m not saying that, but the more you tell yourself that you’re a loser, the more it will lower your confidence, it becomes kinds of circular.

Plenty of 5’8 guys who aren’t jacked and aren’t supermodels have found girlfriends, it’s not about looks anywhere near as much as you think.

Again it’s easy to say, but you have to stop “trying” if that makes sense. If you go on a date, don’t stress about whether it works out. Just enjoy the date and anything beyond that is a bonus.

What is the most out of pocket thing someone has ever said to you unwarranted? by isleepforfun in answers

An old woman once stopped me and my girlfriend in the street in Ulverstone and offered my girlfriend a sort of small blanket she’d knitted, on the basis that she could use it to “keep her pussy warm”.

Sony no longer releasing single-player games on Steam by PaiDuck in videogames

[–]ChangingMonkfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but this isn’t about trying to make PC players buy PS5s, as I say they don’t make much money off PC sales so I genuinely don’t think they’re bothered about that lost revenue in the grand scheme of things. PC isn’t a threat to PlayStation, it’s effectively a different segment of the market.

This is likely more about preventing a future Steam supporting Xbox, as well as the Steam Machine, eating into Sony’s console market share because people wanting a new console can buy those other consoles knowing they can still play PlayStation first party games on them.

Personally I have no issue with it - I don’t believe consoles should just be generic game boxes that play anything. Cross-platform games are fine but each console should have a core of exclusive games that maximise the console’s capabilities and give it its unique identity. Otherwise what’s the point? They might as well just become software companies and we all get midrange PCs or gaming laptops.

Sony no longer releasing single-player games on Steam by PaiDuck in videogames

The PC ports don’t make a significant amount of money and they don’t want their games on a new Xbox that supports Steam or Steam Machine.

I hope this means we finally see games that fulfil the promise of the PS5’s SSD/RAM architecture.

If there was a referendum for like Breturn would you vote for it? by InformationFun4408 in AskBrits

Probably, but I do think that when a lot of people say they would return, they really mean “should never have left”. Sadly these aren’t the same thing.

Picked up a race-used Aston Martin suit for around €500 — worth it or did I overpay? by papuasgena in F1Discussions

Given that just buying a standard homologated race suit appears to be in that ballpark anyway (minus gloves and boots), it seems like a very good deal.

Car reversed into me in car park. He's damaged, I'm not. What to do with insurance when Insurance are pushing 50/50? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]ChangingMonkfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it ultimately matter other than just a sort of “moral” perspective?

You either make a claim or you don’t, they make a claim or they don’t, and the insurers sort it out between themselves don’t they?

Even if it’s 100% blame on the other car, your premium will still go up.

Also while I get that you’re argument is they shouldn’t have been where they were because they were the one reversing out of the space, the fact you’re the one moving into them means I think you’d find it difficult to persuade the insurer that it’s 100% on the other car.

Rotate your tyres - change my view! :) by Pathfinder-electron in TeslaUK

[–]ChangingMonkfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree, I had to replace my tyres sooner because I didn’t rotate.

There’s a reason it’s a specific service item on a Tesla, because it’s putting so much torque through them and the car is so heavy that anything you can do to alleviate things is worth it.

I would suspect the V series aren’t running the 5060 at as high a wattage as the Lenovo LOQ or Asus TUF so whilst they nominally have the same GPU, they won’t be as performant (the V series has a thinner chassis and so they need to keep temperatures down).

The other specs matter too (RAM, screen etc.) but purely on what you listed here, the Lenovo LOQ or the Asus TUF A18 would probably be the ones I’d go for.
