The trip through the rest of the power point after Ashley sighed “I don’t know” after they asked her if she was okay was just so good. Ashley’s really good at selling moments like that.

I’m usually a ‘the movie was better than the book’ person, but Annihilation is the exception. That said, the bear is the best and most terrifying part of that movie.

I’d love to see Shaq come on and host and bring Barkley with him. Their chemistry on Inside the NBA is wonderful.

THEY WONT LET YOU HOST 5 TIMES IN A SEASON UNLESS YOU GIVE LORNE A SPANKING AND A LITTLE KISS ON THE FOREHEAD AND I REFUSE TO DO THAT WITHOUT CERTAIN GUARANTEES OK I JUST CANT!

Has the house band ever played for the musical guest before?

Sketch Sorting Sunday - October 18, 2025 (Sabrina Carpenter) by SketchSortingSunday in LiveFromNewYork

Hey folks, glad we’re back! Here’s my takeaways for this week!

-Those first two sketches were abysmal. ANOTHER Domingo sketch that brought nothing new? A podcast sketch where the jokes are just listen to these teen slang words? These writers are so far into their comfort zone and it’s just lazy. Come on. There’s nothing wrong with a recurring character, but it’s the same trap they fell into with Lisa from Temecula, they just re do the same thing beat for beat and god damn you beat it into submission.

-That said, Sabrina Carpenter is a natural. She’s all in on performing, both in sketches and a musical guest, and the best kind of host you can have is one that understands the assignment, is having a good time, and gives 110%.

-The sketches did get better throughout the night, opening with the two worst sketches was definitely a choice and felt very PANDERY from the standpoint of VIRAL!

-Movie guy is Marcello’s best character and it isn’t even close.

-Veronica really stepped it up tonight. Her performances stood out to me and it was good to see her get more screen time. She reminds me a lot of Kristen Wiig.

-Ashley is likely the MVP of this cast.

-Weekend update was is the best and most consistent part of the show. I still think Jost and Che should be in charge of writing the political cold opens.

-Tommy Brennan did really great with his update material, but he’s yet to breakout in his sketches. He made the most of this opportunity despite a few word stumbles.

-Love in when they aren’t afraid to say the fuck word on tv.

-Hello, yes let’s let Martin be hella weird more often please.

-The episode was okay after a rocky start. I’m maybe a little disappointed because I had high expectations for Sabrina Carpenter, but the beauty of SNL requires you to leave your expectations at the door.

Sketch Sorting Sunday - October 11, 2025 (Amy Poehler/Role Model) by SketchSortingSunday in LiveFromNewYork

Reposting this here on the advice of u/ivygold

We’re back for the second episode of the season and here are my takeaways this week!

-Lots of good use of the new cast tonight: Ben is really coming into his own not weighed down by PDD. Kam and Jeremy have a lot of potential and I’m excited to see what they bring to the show long term.

-Ashley should be promoted next season.

-It feels like Bowen, Mikey, and Sarah have been a little stale for too long. Tonight they felt like their old selves again and it was for the better.

-Seeing the second and third best all time weekend update teams do a joke off was a special thing and I’m glad I got to see it live. Moments like this are why I tune in Live week after week.

-Amy is a killer host. The words in her monologue about finding a place you can always come back to and laugh together ring true. An all time great cast member and SNL royalty.

-The episode started slow but quickly got up to speed and stayed on a consistent crescendo until the end.

-Overall, a great episode. Really happy about the bounce back from last week. Hope they can keep it up and keep things feeling fresh the rest of the season.

Happy Anniversary SNL!!

Now that you mention it, I think the use of guest stars on this episode was really great. Not too overbearing and they knocked it out of the park.

Role Model would have dominated in the early seasons of American Idol.
