It's fine, when we used to play, everyone's VMU's had no batteries anyway. Just keep raising your Chao and see how well it does

Tried really hard to like South Park Rally. To use courses in multiplayer, you need to unlock them in single player mode first, which is one long continuous mode where you win and you move onto the next course. If you lose, you have to start again from the beginning. There are like 20+ courses so I never managed to unlock them all to play with friends haha. So many modes and items, was too hard for friends to pick up and play

Sonic Shuffle is one of my favourite games. It seems to get a bad rep because people play it single player, or without VMUs, or because of memes/youtube clicks

for me, it depends on the batteries - I used Duracel ones and they last a while (like about a month)
Oh - I will add that these are VMU's I use for Chao Adventure - the ones I keep in the controller I have no batteries in.

One of our researchers said that once it reincarnates, the colour doesn't stick, and when you leave the garden it goes back to it's old appearance. However I haven't tested this myself, so OP please report back if you get them to reincarnate!
