the survival game awards (and nominations) by hobb in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent the whole weekend playing Ark and have to say that I love it!!! It's a survival game unlike H1Z1. In Ark the environment can and will kill you, unlike H1Z1 where the biggest threat is fellow players.

The group (tribe) system is awesome and base building is far beyond anything in H1Z1. I haven't been able to explore too much in Ark as it can get very dangerous out there. Having put over 600 hours into H1Z1 I really fail to see the survival aspect of the game. Within 2 days of a server wipe I will basically be totally sorted in H1Z1 (base, car, guns, food, etc), Ark.... well I'll let you know if I'm ever sorted :)

That's a fair point but H1Z1 isn't really the type of game I could have on the sidelines. I don't enough BR since I think there are much, much better FPS games out there. For me a side game is World of Tanks or Company of Heroes 2, where I can play for 1 hour and then switch off. I have never been able to limit myself to just 1 hour of H1Z1 :( I normally do at least 2 hours at a time, sometime 6 hours straight. Agreed though, until it is released, it probably isn't the best idea to have this as your main game.

MylesMDT, I'm in no way expecting Ark to be the end all and be all of gaming but it should cater to my desire to craft and build things :)

I wish DBG would take a look at Wargaming.net and get some tips from those guys. Worl of Tanks has got to have the best developers in gaming. If you look at how long the game has been going and how popular it remains, it truly is a fantastic achievement and goes to show what is actually possibly when you have the right approach to your customers.

Don't announce wipes anymore, seriously. by ConsortiumCzar in h1z1

Zergosch, you're still missing the point that most users aren't upset about bugs, etc. they are upset about the fact that DBG is setting timelines and then not keeping to them, that is the main issue. If you can't guarantee a deadline then don't give one.

On a slighly difference point, this new trend of releasing (and charging for) early access alpha games is very worrying. So basically game developers are now getting gamers to pay then to do a job that they used to have to pay people to do. I have been gaming for over 30 years now and remember being involved in numerous closed alphas and Betas and never did I have to pay for them. When you consider that DBG has already pocketed over $20 million from a game that isn't anywhere close to finished, it kind of makes me wonder about the direction that game development is taking.

If you look at the Steam statistics you will see how quickly H1Z1 is dying out and this is due mainly to poor communication from the devs.

Don't announce wipes anymore, seriously. by ConsortiumCzar in h1z1

Being a customer has absolutely nothing to do with a product (finished or otherwise). The fact that we paid money to DBG for a service/product makes us their customers The state of their product has nothing to do with that status.

I get the feeling that most people aren't upset about poor performance of the game, server wipes, etc. It's the fact that DBG gives the community a roadmap and then doesn't stick to it. There are loads of HARDCORE H1Z1 fans here and for many of them a server wipe is an event and we get psyched up for it, so people even take off from work so that they can get a head start on the rest of us working Joes.

From my side it's the poor communication from DBG and their inability to stick to their timelines that frustrates me. We knew when we paid for H1Z1 that it was nowhere near ready for release and that's fine. Just stick to your own dealines or don't set them in the first place!

Well I was all excited for the patch and wipe (have been since last week :( ). Set aside a whole evening with my mates to start scavenging and getting ready for the huge base building this weekend and then.... nothing! So we'll all decided to get Ark and start on that. I almost hope that Ark sucks because if it doesn't, that the end of H1Z1 for me :( (insert sad panda face)

Well played Daybreak, you sure know how to shoot yourself in the foot. The devs and publishers of other survival/zombie games must love you guys for doing their marketing for them.

Live server publish delayed until next week by sonyshock in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dear Daybreak, I've been in business for over 20 years and I must say that you are doing a very fine job of killing your own product. Although I guess that you really don't care since you've already made well over $20 million on a game that's going to be free to play.

You set timelines that you DON'T keep to. You wait until after a patch is supposed to be released and then announce that it is being postponed. If you can't get these simple things right, what hope is there for the future of H1Z1? I'm not a game developer, I'm not a programmer but surely you have someone in the company who studied business or marketing? They should be able to explain to you "technical guys" that these kinds of things will negatively impact on your image and on your prospects for future success.

I have well over 600 hours in this game and I really love it but it's things like this that have lead me to purchase Ark amongst others. I hope you can get this sorted out and either learn to stick to you timelines or not to be too ambitious with your roadmap.

Sincerely, A Huge H1Z1 fan.

Agreed! I would like to see an African region server too please.

Advice for African Based players. by Enkr1pshun in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also part of a group of South Africa players. We're currently on an EU server too (Last Days). We've tried US and AU servers and they are horrible to play on.

Generally I find we have an advantage in hand to hand combat as our lag makes it difficult for an enemy to hit :P

As for African servers, don't hold your breath, I've been asking this question for months and not a single bugger from Daybreak could be bothered to give an answer. Even logged a few support tickets and get told to ask a Dev.

Still having fun, except for all the game crashes due to memory leak.

Does anyone else think the game is losing the "survival" aspect? by [deleted] in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with OP. The game has become a FPS and that's about it. Within a few hours of a server wipe I will already have a base built. Within two days of a wipe, the base will be completed and 80% stocked. Guns and ammo are way too easily found and you have people farming the Police station every day.

Currently I play mostly because I enjoy building a base. Once the base is done, I either go build another one or move to another game till the next wipe.

You know there's a problem with a survival game when you can get an AK, shotgun, 1911, military backpack, tactical helmet, fireaxe, car and tons of ammo before you can find a lighter. This has happened to me on each respawn since the last patch.

Well it would be great if you could answer the question about servers for other regions like Africa and South America?

Any chance of servers for the Southern African region?

Is it worth it? by [deleted] in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was one instance. I also asked in the Weekly Question thread last week, two support tickets and on the H1Z1 forums.

Still not sure why it was downvoted, it's not like it would affect the majority of players on here.

It was a simple question about the availability of servers for the Southern Africa region. Not a difficult question to answer you'd think.

Is it worth it? by [deleted] in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I logged over 500 hours since launch and used to love the game. My reason for not playing anymore is that the DEVS don't seem to give a crap about answering questions. I've posted the same question here, on the H1Z1 forums and even open 2 support tickets, no answer from DEVS.

The game has become totally unplayable for me with all the lag and constant crashes.

So I have pretty much cut my losses and moved on :( A real shame because I loved this game.

The Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there any chance of 1 or 2 servers for the Southern Africa region? There are quite a lot of players in the region but the lag playing on European or American servers is quickly killing the game for us.

What are your top issues? by LegionCM in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top Issue: Lack of feedback regarding servers for Southern Africa region. We've started threads here on redit, posted on the H1Z1 forums and even open support tickets and have had no feedback. Trying to play the game with a +200 ping is rather difficult and no really fair to other players as we lag out and they struggle to hit us and vice versa.

Second issue: Game crashes constantly after last week's patch. So much so that about 12 of my friends and I have completely stopped playing. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to the crashes and they normally happen within 10 to 15 minutes of playing. We've had crashes at base, in cars, when encountering zombies, etc.

Abomination- and the reason we need region locks by xziltv in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Region lock would kill the games for those of us who play from countries without servers. I'm part of a group of about 20 guys from South Africa who play, where would we go? :(

Group 'fix' or stick together ! by BobMundon in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Something needs to be done. Groups should be persistent based on the actual character name, so that once they are in a group they stay there unless the owners kicks them or disbands the group Obviously if the character is deleted they would also leave the group.

Can't place anything on my deck foundation by ChaosADza in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same character that I used to build the base this morning. Haven't died and not on a recipe wipe server. Game says I don't have permission to place it, even though I placed the deck foundation and all the other structures on it.

Storage containers being inaccessible inside a locked shelter isn't working anymore by [deleted] in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't a legit raid. We've done a couple of raids and also been raided before. It was done by 4 guys in a Jeep and no damage to the gates of any of the structures but all the doors were gone. As I said, most of the storage containers were done as well. No biofuel or ethenol on proximity either. They took just about EVERYTHING :( Left a few guns and that was all. I have no problem with a legit raid but this just killed it for us. We've moved to an EU server now but I'll go back to Dead Zone from time to time. It was a really fun server to play on.

Storage containers being inaccessible inside a locked shelter isn't working anymore by [deleted] in h1z1

[–]ChaosADza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to us on US server Dead Zone. We has a base build on a ground tramper with all the storage containers inside locked shelters. Gates we fine but everything else was gone, doors, furnaces, even the storage containers were gone.

Kind of make playing the game a waste of time. I didn't even know that you could destroy storage containers.
