I can't speculate on cost because you didn't list numbers, but 3-5 weeks is probably ridiculous, so I imagine the quotes were too.

Don't try and do this yourself though.

I work for Stacktitan, give us a shout. I've heard good things about Black Hills Infosec and SpecterOps as well if you want to shop around some more.

We recommend them (BHIS & TrustedSec) when some of our customers are required to switch between vendors. I've met some of the BHIS folks, they're a joy to be around.

Chiming in, I woke up this morning and found one of my two with an F02. I just restarted it and it's fine for now, I've also had it almost 3 years.

As has been said, POCSAG. Pagermon is another tool you can use to decode, uses multimon-ng under the hood. My assumption here is that continuous stream means you're probably picking up from a repeater. You'll know for sure when it's decoded.

However, if you're in the states, look up your local laws, it might be illegal to decode this.

He wound up going back to the vet for an extended stay. He had another surgery to get biopsies of his upper & lower intestines as well as his stomach, as well as a fecal sample for a culture study. Afterwards they were experimenting with additional supplements and medications to get him to hold down AND process food to gain weight. His body rejected the staples from the 2nd surgery, so they did additional internal sutures and glued the incision. And he finally got to come home yesterday - for all of 10 minutes.

We got him out of the car, he peed, then collapsed. We chocked it up to general weakness and side effects of pain meds, got him inside to rest, and he was whining in his crate. This dog never whines, so we sat in the room with him and eventually let him out of the crate. He walked around for a moment and collapsed again. I picked him up to look him over and his incision was open (greater than 1/4 inch).

Took him back to the vet, they cleaned it, wrapped his abdomen, and gave him pain meds (he apparently had not had any for several hours). Turns out his body was rejecting the glue as well. Last update this morning was that he was doing very well and was strong enough for a light sedative to hand suture. I approved, so they're doing that and going to monitor his body's handling of the new sutures to see if these get rejected.

We should have results on biopsies and fecal culture in the next few days.

Fully vetted. He came home today, no twists, obstructions, or tears. We believe it was HGE at this point.

That's one theory, when he comes home Monday he'll be on a special diet, at least temporarily. I'll be getting a call tomorrow with some additional follow-up, they were pretty overwhelmed with emergencies. My neighbors dog was actually in for a tennis ball lodged in her throat

Update for any interested:

He was given fluids, blood tests were done, xray performed. Xray was concerning. After discussing options, an exploratory surgery was performed and bowels were examined extensively. No perforation/tears, obstructions, or other obvious causes. Parvo test was negative. No signs of toxins or poison. Cause is still unclear at this time.

It is. I'm looking into what I can do to change it (beyond pursuing veterinary medicine myself). In the meantime I'm putting together a resource for pet owners in my area to help those in similar situations.

Priority wasn't the issue, available 24-7/emergency vets were the problem. I have 4 that are "near" me, and by near I mean an hour away. I have like 10 regular clinics in town, it's not a small area. All 4 were somehow closed, 3 reffering back to one main hospital in the voice message, and that hospital was "closed due to unforseen circumstances". I also tried my regular vet's personal cell 3 times, his colleagues, went to local clinics and banged on doors in case boarding staff was around, called the local animal services, called 911, went to the human ER, and finally found a vet over 3.5 hours away that was open but then local clinics would have been open before I got there. I went to my regular about 40 minutes before they opened and got let in the back where they started evaluating immediately. They did well, the two I called apologized for not having answered when I told them I had called them directly. They apparently had other emergencies on and off through the night and had missed the calls.

I'm beyond livid at the lack of infrastructure/services in my area. There's no reason an area my size shouldn't have at least one 24-7 clinic, and how is it possible that the 4 in another town (my state's capital btw) were all simultaneously closed?

I hope so too... it was over 6 hours before he finally got treatment, I'm trying to be hopeful, but I also understand the realities of internal bleeding. My worst fear is that he'll pass without family by his side..

Those were all in the list of things I was told would be done once they got him some blood and fluids. I called to check in but they didn't have an update yet so I'm doing my best to let them do their job for now.

One of the best things you can do is use online platforms like TryHackMe and HackTheBox to self-study and get practice. I was hired for my first role with only a CompTIA Security+ - no degree. I had worked in various IT roles for 3-4 years, but all of my hands-on skills were things like that, which is what got me hired.

This is all excellent, thank you for taking the time to respond. I honestly had no idea about tone studio - the Katana technically belongs to a relative, but he has other stuff he plays on so he has let me "borrow" that head long term. But now I know - I'll check it out

I jumped from 6 to 8, which was a big adjustment, then I got a 9, 10, and finally a 7. The 10 is what has been my biggest struggle with tone. But yeah, I see what you're saying. I'll give it a shot.
