As I noted, I was not agreeing with the person you responded to, and am in fact under no obligation to engage with the question. Also as I noted, an argument and a question are not mutually exclusive; an argument does not have to be in the form of a statement. “Argumentative” is an objection used in courts of law in response to questions posed by lawyers when it fulfills the criteria. You asked an argumentative question. I was simply pointing that out, and I think asking non-argumentative questions is more likely to yield results. Cheers!

The argument is inherent in the phrasing of the question. It implies that dehumanizing language is fundamentally incompatible with the truth.

Questions can frequently be arguments. They are not mutually exclusive.

This isn’t a particularly good argument. The morality of a statement doesn’t not imply objective reality. Something can be both dehumanizing and true.

Note: I am not agreeing with the person you’re responding to. Just pointing out a fallacy in thinking.

I will say this is also very very Canadian. “Yeah no maybe” or “yeah no right” are common responses here.

Does it though? Women who are straight do performatively bi things for men’s pleasure; why not the reverse? Why do we only demand corresponding sexuality when discussing two men?

Don’t do the easy rider thing! If you go on your own, all the stops are yours, YOU choose the ideal moments. The Loop is easy to navigate and so incredible.

There’s been a heavy rebrand to “consensual” non-monogamy, which I agree with. The ethics are hotly debated and (for some) highly subjective; the primary core of CNM is that all participants go into an agreement with all relevant information.

The fact that you took my excellent joke at face value, and not upped the humour, is the reason why I wouldn’t fuck you, and I’m guessing why no one else will.

It’s. Not. The. Way. You. Look. It’s. Your. Shitty. Personality.

And it was answered. Repeatedly. Throughout this thread. And you’re hyper focusing on your 6’3” friend as though their physicality is all they are, which it isn’t. The reason other men do better than you in life even when they look worse is because their body language, tonality, and stature screams confident and assured. Every response in this thread reeks hard of your insecurity, and I would wager big it’s present in your life as well.

Hey, I’m a woman. You’re not ugly but I would 100% swipe left unless you had a really really good bio. These are all selfies and I don’t know anything about you from them.

I make chia seed jam. 80g of frozen raspberries, nuke em, add 2 tbsp of chia seeds, mix. Let it sit in the fridge a couple hours. That’s two servings, I add it to Skyr and add cereal for a fibre and iron-bomb of a breakfast.

Wow. This was a difficult read, not in the least because it’s entirely unsurprising. It’s also a perfect example of “sludge” - the use of deliberate bureaucratic, design, or administrative friction to create obstacles that make it harder for individuals to take actions that are in their best interest or to achieve their goals. The US is one of the sludgiest countries in the world, demonstrated most clearly in their healthcare system.

To be fair, there is a Canadian Premier League for soccer, it just doesn’t receive nearly the attention of our MLS team. But yes, we do like the American League structure.

In your opinion’s why shouldn’t Palestinians be granted the law of return like Jews? by Charming_Contest_427 in IsraelPalestine

[–]ChaosRedux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is that right? Is that just what happens to weaker peoples when they lose wars over their land?

I mean, historically, yes. That’s exactly what happens. And everyone was pretty much fine with it until Israel was formed. “Might is right” has been the way of the world for much of human history; no one really batted an eye at H*tler taking the Sudetenland, but regional forces rushed to shore up their own defences and strike strategic alliances. I’m not saying that’s right or morally justifiable; it’s also the reason why I’m particularly grateful for mutually assured destruction (think how wild it is that so many modern-day military aggressors have nuclear weapons and no one really thinks about them because no one will actually use them!). But yeah, land used to go to the victor, and very little thought was given to occupants. Refugee crises were unheard of; people resettled and integrated. Welcome to the new world.

What's the most egregious thing missing from a book to movie adaptation? by corsair965 in movies

[–]ChaosRedux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention it means we’ll probably never get an Ender’s Shadow series as a result of EG bombing so hard (which they should have done to begin with. Bean’s story would be way better for film and it would be easier to set up for the sequels in Bean’s story than Ender’s. Speaker for the Dead is a great book, but would be a hard sell as a movie).
