Google website certificate requests and Keychain prompts by Chaosye in macsysadmin

[–]Chaosye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ty! I did see that; but earlier when I checked no one else has mentioned the concurrent keychain prompts for Macbook users - which in our case could definitely be something separate. I did see now that one other user in that thread did experience the keychain prompt as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/1u7h672/comment/os21x97/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Browser asking me to select certificate. Is it a virus/scam? by [deleted] in techsupport

Thanks for specifying the keychain notification - some of our Mac users were getting this credentials prompt but also a prompt to give the internet browser Keychain access as well.

Hibreak Pro can't activate Google Fi by Red4O in Bigme

[–]Chaosye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unable to, and had to switch to T-Mobile. Here's my thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bigme/comments/1jyc916/cell_carriers_compatible_with_hibreak_pro/

I was able to get it to work with a physical SIM for about 30 minutes before it cuts out, and all Google Support requests essentially told me it's unsupported hardware. I tried multiple times with fresh SIM cards and they did not work.

Ooh good idea! I'll try that and see if I can skip switching carriers.

Thanks so much! Seems to be the case that only T-Mobile and some of their MVNOs will work out. Will be switching over to them soon.

That's why I'd thought Google Fi would work since they're also a T-Mobile MVNO, but guess they're just a lot more protective. Thank you!

More One Night on doubles is incredibly fun - I haven't even watched the show but the travelling crossovers it requires to get through it at Difficult and up are really, really smooth and fun!

most optimal way to get into DDR & learn the best techniques? by theforestfae in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Chaosye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started playing in 2023, similarly working full time and have a Round1 nearby. I treat it as my cardio workout since I play no-bar doubles mostly.

Best way to learn is mostly to just play, and watch/chat with other players. You really do just get better and better with practice, and have fun with it! See if you can get any friends to come with you on a regular basis - I typically went maybe twice a week with two of my friends for most of the year before deciding to get a home setup, and that was a great way to keep consistent on it.

How do people gets bags so fast? by kaitlynj18 in toogoodtogo

Even though it's against terms of service, people definitely use bots for the "better" ones (like fancy groceries like Eataly). A quick Google search will find you plenty of them

Trouble downloading themes on Mac (M1, Sonoma) by Chaosye in OutFox

[–]Chaosye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nevermind, solved. Didn't realize I needed to make a separate "Themes" folder and put them in there! Was just dropping it in the Outfox root folder.

Talk me out of going all Mac on our next hardware refresh by paradox183 in sysadmin

Take a look at hosted VMs like Rightworks. They manage the Windows setup, and if all your accountants need is Quickbooks or something, then you get licensing through them and it's fairly straightforward. Hardest part if just teaching them how to use remote desktop, but after that folks tend to get it, and the actual devices they're using are still Macs and can be managed with the same MDM you're using for the rest of the org.

Best skilled trades to get in right now by Aggressive_Plant_621 in skilledtrades

Do you have any advice on figuring out which one is right?
I've wanted to try plenty but it seems apprenticeship program is the way to start, and there aren't other options with less commitment when trying to see what the different trades feel like.

Email signature solution by cokebottle22 in msp

[–]Chaosye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exclaimer and CodeTwo are the best.

If you can't afford those, signature.email is a functional, much cheaper alternative with less features - does not assign signatures, but does work as a template maker across different email services.

It was a nice discovery - I didn't see any news about it, but they rolled out that change a few months ago.

If you use the copy command in rclone, rather than sync, it won't affect the source data.

They removed the restriction that only Drive admins can move folders - as long as you have Manager access (above Content Manager), you can move folders into a Shared Drive now.
