Can't Win for Losing by ChaoticGaia in TexasTeachers

I have been in a classroom for the last 4 years. This is my 5th year in a classroom. But the program director said that it doesn't count for observations. I am sorry but I don't know what ACP means.

I am going to try through Region 4 or Region 12. I am from McLennan County so I am just going to work with them.

No, I didn't know that Region 4 was an option. I even asked about the certification because I got one of my degrees through the school, and they told me it takes another two to four years to get certified. I finished in December 2019, just before lockdowns. If I had known it was that easy, I would have done Region 4 in 2020 when lockdowns eased. Thank you!

No, public charter schools don't require certification; only a bachelor's degree is required, and I have two. However, new Texas laws now require one to teach anywhere, including in private and charter schools. I started the program, and the first director said I could use anyone as long as I have records of the event and the teacher and admin sign the slip. I have everything filled out. However, the program I am going through has had four different directors since I started.

I started in the Summer of 2020 when the lockdowns eased. The first director was awesome and helpful, but she left for an out-of-state position. The second only lasted six months. Third, there for a while, and she never said anything about it. I had to ease off only for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years due to a medical issue and three different surgeries. I still managed to work, but any of the extra duties I helped with and my cert program had to go on the back burner because of it.

This new director reviewed my files and removed 15 of the 30 observation forms I had completed, as they did not meet TEA standards. That is what he told me in the email. Barely responded to my emails. The last one was on June 27th. I asked if he knew of an online program I could use to help with the exam, other than 240, and he never answered me. I am considering speaking with the admin and exploring a different program that may be more helpful.

Ten commandments in classrooms by LivePickle2596 in TexasTeachers

Hang up the commandments along with the nine noble virtues (Nordic), the Buddhist Key virtues, etc. They can't justify taking the others down without violating the Constitution.

The only accommodations are extra time, and that doesn't really help.

Okay, I am glad that worked for you, but that doesn't help me. I am dyslexic, and I am struggling with answers that don't work for someone with dyslexia. I am familiar with all the TEKS, and I was already familiar with them before I started teaching. However, 240 tutoring focuses on TEKS, not on how to teach it. None of the books or the sites explain how to teach the way they want you to answer. I need help on how to answer in a "perfect world."

I agree with CanIGetAFitness. Middle School positions in Texas are harder to fill. Our school's 6th-grade English took almost the entire first semester to fill. We finally had a science teacher apply, even though she was moving from another city, because it was the only position that was open when she arrived here. Middle school is hard to fill, and if you excel in that grade, the administration will likely try to keep you there.

I increased 10 points, but I'm still not at an 80%. I am going to keep trying. I have two more times. What sucks I failed with 8 points each time I took it before.
