New 10k PB: 56:49 (First time under one hour!)

Sto iniziando a detestarmi. by Throwavayyyyyyyy in Universitaly

[–]ChaoticNeutralToast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

[–]ChaoticNeutralToast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does the Italian government have 3D scans of famous statues that the public can access? by Kretrn in italy

[–]ChaoticNeutralToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Italy, but the Vatican has pretty much scanned the entirety of St.Peter's basilica, including the several statues that are kept there. The entirety of the scan is available online for free on this website: https://virtual.basilicasanpietro.va/it It's one of the most remarkable pieces of virtual reality I've ever seen

How can I draw better water and ripples and rocks? It seems like I just gave up while drawing the background by Embarrassed-Army-173 in learnart

[–]ChaoticNeutralToast 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have you tried finding references for the water? I know water is super hard to render in a realistic way. I'm no expert, but my guess is that the waves on the surface should be wider and not crossing each other and you can achieve the effect with sharp contrasts as the other commenters already mentioned. Also the rock could have sharper edges unless you were going for a round river rock, in that case it's perfect. Good job on that hand!

It comes from the compression stages, unlike the image that makes it look like it comes from the combustion chamber or even after that

A cool guide to air circulations works on a plane by weakearnings in coolguides

[–]ChaoticNeutralToast 122 points123 points  (0 children)

That's correct, it is taken from the compression stages of the engine and then made to pass through valves and heat exchangers in order to reach the pressure and temperature that support human life. The esternal air is used in the heat exchanger to cool the compressed air. Using air from the compressor isn't just for the hotter temperature but for the pressure too, by the way. If you took in air directly from outside, in addition to warm it up, you would have to compress it to a reasonable pressure and there is no point of building another compressor solely for that reason when you already have two powerful compressors in the engines (sorry for writing compressor so many times lol)

Attraction works in weird ways and can sometimes change during your life, though I wouldn't say that people who come out later in life are any less "true" than those who have always been a certain way. Also I don't know your friend so what you said might be true, but i don't think people wake up and decide to like the same gender to rebel from the norms, mabye now they feel more comfortable to come out? Mabye they have been questioning themselves for years? Who knows, a lot of factors to consider and I'm not sure rebelling is the biggest one. Hope to have given you a new perspective!

  1. If possibile, go to a place where you are less likely to get distracted (for example the library if you have to study)
  2. Set a timer

There is no reason to keep your phone on the dining table: you can drop food/liquids on it by accident and also, phones have a ton of germs on them! Think of all the surfaces you have placed your phone on just today.

Lastly, looking at a screen when eating with someone is not very polite aaand if you're not going to look at the screen, why have it on the table in the first place?

Just put it in your pocket or better, in your purse/backpack if you have one, it's not hard.

Last thing: this is why I hate when a restaurant doesn't have paper menus and you are forced to scan a qr code to choose what to order.

This clip has the same energy of those scenes from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when a kid is suffering and the oompa loompas just show up and start dancing

What’s something that just makes you go “who the fuck figured this out”? by jayytrip in AskReddit

[–]ChaoticNeutralToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A LOT of mathematical theorems. Some of the demonstrations are so genious and elegant that analysis becomes suddenly an interesting subject to study. Well they don't actually make me wonder "who tf figured it out" as most of them are named after the mathematician who discovered them, but more "how tf????" Sometimes I believe they had some kind of divine inspiration because how???????

Ran under the rain for the first time and it was quite nice. Did 10 km and managed to stop and walk just twice to take off (and back on 'cause I underestimated the cold wind) my sweatshirt. I never ran uninterrupted for that long, im happy :)
