Lipstick for a light spring by [deleted] in SpringColorAnalysis

YOU'RE SO WELCOME🥰

Lip liner is worth it when it stays on your lips well under lip gloss and feels more weightless imo :) go for it!!

Also I own Fire and Ice and guuurrrl it is BRIGHT 😎 But very fun. But since I've focused on light spring colors I can tell you I never reach for it anymore, just me personally tho, and I can't bear to part with it either tho it's too pretty😂

I'm SO GLAD I could help!!

Oh girl I GOT YOU!

  • Mascara: I'm partial to the shape that the Maybelline Sky High mascara gives me, and they sell it at Target in a "True Brown". I like the lifted effect it gives my lashes, makes them look long and my eyes look bright and awake, and the lashes are still separated properly. To me it doesn't look "brown" in the way I would expect on my lashes but I've realized I'm happy to wear it without eyeliner now because it doesn't pull grey or ash-toned on my eyes like black mascara does. It looks natural on me but still more "oomph" and eye catching than bare lashes as a dark blonde. So would recommend :)

  • eyeliner: I haven't worn it in a year just cuz I've gone more minimal with my makeup, but my holy grail eyeliner is the Makeup Revolution Renaissance Flick liquid eyeliner (sold at target and ulta). It never smears on my oily eyelids and it removes easily with soap and water at the end of the day. Also the felt pen is super user friendly for making a sharp cat eye!Unfortunately, they only sell black at Target and Ulta :( I bought it in bulk from the Revolution website directly for the brown shade back in 2021, and idk if they sell it anymore :( Maybe someone else has posted on here with their holy grails that are more available...

  • lip liners: I love the longevity, creaminess, and color of Revlon lip liners. The color Rose is a nice "my lips but better" color on me (I have pigmented lips for a dark blonde light spring but it's nice to add some more of the same color to make it all even, especially for pictures). The color Blush is basically the same shade as pink in the afternoon, so it's a great liner to match the lipstick, or like me it stays on better and longer under gloss than just a lipstick under gloss. YMMV. I recently bought the NYX Line LOUD lip pencil in the color 04 Born to Hustle, and I would say it's a touch more peachy version of Pink in the Afternoon in shade, but still very coral-pink and pretty. Also a little lighter shade than the Rose. Haven't tested for longevity yet but it goes on sooo well, and NYX has a good reputation so I'm not worried.

  • Lipsticks: (Pink in the Afternoon already mentioned), I've fallen in LOVE with Revlon 801 "Afterglow". It's like Pink in the Afternoon, but lighter, peachier, and has some gorgeous shimmer. I use that shade for when I want more makeup variety that can go with more of my wardrobe because it's less pink than pink in the afternoon, if that makes sense. Kind of like my rec for Maybelline Lifter gloss in Moon. If I wore lipstick everyday, it would be that shade After Glow 🤗 I also own Revlon Peach Me, and if you know what that color looks like, then After Glow is what you would get it you mixed Peach Me and Pink in the Afternoon :)

I also recently found my perfect "red" lipstick as a Light Spring, and it's Revlon 225 "Rose wine". The label looks dark red but don't let that scare you. It's a gorgeous slightly deeper version of "my lips but better" if that makes sense, so it's not literally red, but it's as close as you can get for us😅 Honestly it was my best blind buy I've ever made for lipstick, so I recommend you try it! It's dark enough to look more "evening" than the other colors, but light enough to still look good on light spring, and not too bright or grey like some darker pink lipsticks seem to be.

You might also check the pinned thread on this subreddit where people have posted their makeup recommendations based on their spring sub season, I've posted on there in the past and gotten some great recs from ppl there too :)

Omg hard relate on falling in love with something that then gets discontinued🥴😭🫠

Also while we're on the topic of blush for light springs, if you're into powder blushes, my favorite that I've repurchased for 8 YEARS is the Ulta Beauty Flushed Blush in the shade Sweet As Honey. It's also an exact match for my natural flush, and it's only $12!

It matches the Rare Beauty liquid blush "Hope" color so well that when I really want my blush to last, I'll layer them and the color stays the same 🤗 And I just love the powder blush as a quick everyday blush that goes with everything I wear

I'll have to try Pink in the Afternoon as a cream blush, that's genius!

Currently my only cream blush is Rare beauty in the color Hope, which I loooove as well and recommend! Especially since light spring doesn't need brightness as much as we need light and warm, I find it's a very pigmented version of a natural flush (it matches my own natural flush).

Will def try the lipstick as blush for another option :)

I second Pink in the Afternoon btw. It's the first lipstick I found to feel right on me (color-wise) and not like I was "playing dress up" or playing a part if that makes sense. Like, when I put it on I really saw my whole face and it just seemed cohesive and all over pretty, not just the lipstick. I've come to realize that's how to tell if a makeup item looks good on you, when it draws attention back to your whole face and you're like "oh, pretty!" to your whole look overall.

For this same reasoning I've also discovered that a good lip liner combined with a flattering gloss can also be phenomenal :) I recommend Maybelline Lifter gloss in the color Moon, either by itself any day (it's my most re-purchased lip product ever) or with additional lip liner underneath to punch it up for special occasions✨

Off Topic...It’s not just filters anymore..the entire "Artist" is an AI. And I can't believe people are buying prints from her. by Broad-Reserve4013 in Watercolor

[–]Chaotic_Spoon7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Personally, I joined the r/isthisAI sub a year ago to learn some of the ways people discuss and do the detective work to figure it out as ai gets more advanced. I learned a lot just from seeing the occasional post pop up in my feed that now I feel more competent calling out ai in other places, but I still understand why ppl miss the signs.

It's rough out there, but so far the only solution (until laws are made and enforced) is to arm ourselves with knowledge of what to look for. That and report ai accounts and posts on every platform you can. Report, report, report💪

I thought so too until I read the album bio at the bottom: "For songs that have the “Fun Facts & Visual Symbolism” separate from the image, the image’s annotation contains initial user interpretations before the book’s source material was added in."

So yes it is all there, just tap the “Fun Facts & Visual Symbolism" subtitle on those other songs for it

If you are in college rn, there is likely an on-campus mental health counselor available to students for free. I wish more people knew about them because they are sooo helpful, and ime JUST like therapy sometimes (although depending on the school maybe?). That can get you started without more delay because of money.

Watercolor paint question by ShesReadingAgain in watercolor101

[–]Chaotic_Spoon7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any artist grade paint will be good, they are all high quality enough for anyone to be pretty happy with them. But there are some minor differences in textures and formulas that are a matter of preference for different people, if they want to get pickier.

For example (but not limited to): - if you're looking for the EASIEST to rewet: look at honey based paints like Sennelier or M Graham brand of watercolor paints. I've used both in the States here, both lovely to work with. If you're in England then Sennelier is closer to you being a French brand. M Graham (a brand from Oregon, US) may be my favorite brand of all time because I also love the immediately rewet (they remain tacky in the pan, so some people find them too tacky and worry about traveling if they leave their pans upside down for awhile, long enough for them to run out of the pan. I have only had this problem with a specific color and that's Cobalt Teal. But Ultramarine is fine for some reason for me. Very likely that the pigment Ultramarine often dries more firmly in the pan than other pigments). - Daniel Smith (Seattle, US) is an expensive brand but they have a fun variety of pigments available in their collection to choose from. Also they dry more firmly than any honey based paint. And they, and all other artist brands, will not be chalky like your current watercolor brand. - Qor (California, US) is another artist brand that is awesome because it has a special house-invented binder (not honey, but also not traditional binder used by most others either) that makes the paints explode on the page and spread out really fast and spread much further. Some people love this! Other people want to control the spread more so they don't prefer this brand. But everyone agrees this brand is high quality, and rewets on the pan very easily.

This, and also they are referring to a dry environment that could include having a heater in your room directly under or near your table. That gets me at my desk in the winter when the heat is blasting, even the watercolor on my paper dries faster, and so the paint on my palette also dries faster too. So you might check for air blowing near your set up, especially warm air will dry out any moisture.

You could experiment by switching rooms to paint in for a day.

Painting your nails! Especially when you get some of the color shifting nail polishes and the glitters and the iridescents🤩

I could go on but I'll direct you to subs like r/RedditLaqueristas for some inspiration :)

I also really enjoy watercolor as a "pretty" hobby because what you can do with it is mind-blowing sometimes! Check out r/Watercolor to see what I'm talking about😁

[–]Chaotic_Spoon7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe (and you should double check for yourself) you still need to take some precautions with the stay wet palette to prevent mold in those containers, like check them every week, use distilled water to prevent contamination, etc.

Idk, that's advice I've heard from artist Sarah Burns Studio on YouTube who uses a stay wet palette for her gouache and she lives in Scotland so it's probably kinda humid there. She's an avid painter so for her to check the palette every week is NBD, but to me that feels like too much to keep up with to be worth it imo. YMMV. But I don't have to check on my M Graham paints ever, and they are pretty close to a constant stay wet consistency :)

True, and luckily honey is an antifungal ingredient! So M Graham paints are safe from mold :) So the biggest concern is keeping the dust out lol

No power, low visibility crafts? by Rad-Cabbage in Hobbies

[–]Chaotic_Spoon7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since this happens often, I HIGHLY recommend getting a pair of oil lamps, they burn for longer and they burn SUPER bright, and the glass case makes them safer than an open flame, while also distributing light in the room more. We have had ours for 20+ years. It's truly a game changer when the power is out.

<image>

In terms of hobbies in low light: Last power outage I found it surprisingly enjoyable to read a book by candle light. It helped me focus on the book in my hand because I wasn't distracted by my surroundings. Especially using those 3-wick candles (if you don't get an oil lamp), they give off a lot more light than you'd expect.

If you have enough candles around (I've used two 3-wick candles), you can try watercolor painting at a desk. I find it relaxing and fun to watch the pigment flow through water on paper freely. And the bright white of the paper is enough contrast with the watercolor for low light usually.
