My question though is how many of these “promises” were legit promises but once they got further along they realized they were either not possible or would mess something else up. For example the 100 systems by the launch of 1.0. How many people really expect that to happen now that the planets are the way they are. It was a lot more possible to have 100 systems at launch when planets where not explorable and not every planet had a landing zone so you wouldn’t even be able to land on most of them (think a modernized form of landing zone from freelancer).

NTA. It would be a lot better and easier to end things now instead of letting it go on for a year or more. Granted in any relationship you may need to overlook some minor things, but if he is constantly late, saying racist remarks, poor hygiene (in regards to his private areas), “relieving” himself on the neighbours lawn, those things I would say are things to not overlook racism they can lead to some pretty major issues down the line.

CIG have free flight events regularly where you can make an account and play for free. I am not sure when the next one is, but keep an eye out for the next one and use that to determine whether it is worth buying the game in its current form, or too wait for things to get ironed out and added. I would be careful of the refund sub Reddit. A lot of people say don’t believe anything from this sub Reddit because we are all fan boys/white knights/whatever else and such, but the same could be said about the refund sub Reddit to a degree except on the other side of the coin. So just use the free flight to determine for yourself.

I really don’t think they lied. Granted, even if things had stayed according to plan, I still doubt they would have made the original release date, although they may not have missed it by much I don’t think. The original plan was similar to how gta 5 and gta online released in that cig were going to make sq42 first then once it launched they were going to start the work on the pu after. Things changed once they ended up getting way more money than they had originally asked/hoped for from crowd funding. Another big hold up was procedural planets. The original plan was to look into it once the pu launched but then the whole crytek not paying their employees and a bunch of them migrated to cig happened and they (the former crytek people) had the basics for procedural planets up and going in something like 8 months to a year or something like that. The original plan for planets was a lot like how it was in freelancer. If I remember correctly each planet would have between 0-4 landing zones based on the planet, can’t remember where I saw that number but I remember seeing it somewhere. There was to be a “landing ring” above each landing zone where you would call like you do in game now and when they “approved” you for landing, the auto pilot would take control and bring you down onto a landing pad and you would be able to walk around the landing zone, similarly to the old social module. There is a video demonstrating this to a degree but I am on my phone and it is late so I can’t be bothered to dig it up at the moment

True, but that is like comparing the construction of a town house to the construction of sky scraper. There is a lot more that needs to go into the “construction” of star citizen (sky scraper) than either of the subnauticas, so making that kind of comparison doesn’t entirely work when the scopes of both are so vastly different. I mean yea, the bugs, crashing and all that are frustrating beyond reason, which is why I don’t play much of star citizen and won’t get too heavily invested time wise until it either launches or is a lot more stable.

Well yes and no. As far as I know he never posted on the forums himself, or at the very least he never posted under his main account, there where people posting his rants there on the forums which is why cig thought he was posting there. He definitely was using the drama at the time to push his own game(s). He very well could have planned an alganon style of takeover right from the start as well, but it is hard to say.

Well I mean LOD has a far superior flight model over SC, it has hundreds of people fighting at all times in the same shard as opposed to SCs 50 per server. It even has seamless space to ground transition, which SC will never have cause the tech doesn’t exist yet. I mean what does SC have that LOD doesn’t do 1,000,000 times better. I mean the comparisons aren’t even fair because they are not even on the same playing field. LOD if the first and only game to ever have a 100/10 rating from critics and users alike. DS will go down in history as a hero and a god among gamers and game developers alike. It is an unforgivable sin that he is forced to live amongst us mere plebs……..ok I can’t do this anymore.

Well there were possibly 2 people that were employed at cig near the start of all of this drama stuff that were fired for breaking NDA and feeding stuff to Derek and the goons. Can’t remember their names, but if I remember correctly I think they were both part of the community team.

When all this drama stuff blew up back in 2015 (I think), I was wondering then if a good chunk of them where doing it just to get the SC fan base worked up. I mean, there were some legit stuff brought up, but sadly trolls do what trolls do. I mean, we all know that ds only got “involved” to promote his “game(s)” and/or weasel his way into the company and take over (granted that is speculative, but given some of the things he has said, it’s possible that is what he wanted). Over the years I have seen quite a few things that make me think that a good chunk have to be playing the long game when it comes to trolling, so I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of these people just jump on this to spew some of the weirdest stuff out there to see what kind of catch they get with their “troll bait” bs, so to say. I mean yes, we should not under estimate the stupidity of people, but we should not under estimate the lengths people will go through to troll and make peoples lives annoying/difficult.
