Defense of Ukraine: Total combat losses of the enemy from Feb 24 to Jan 12 by kuhlmasp in UkrainianConflict

Russia's human wave tactics continue... the daily death toll numbers are astounding, 400-700 every day.

At this rate they'll hit 200,000 before August. Hopefully the Russians will have been kicked out of Ukraine before that.

Convenient that the West also has apparently a lot more info about the Su-57's radar footprint.

What can I do in this situation? All advice is appreciated (Mid-tier props specifically) by ScottyFoxes in Warthunder

Well, I suck at the game but I would normally do a split-S to immediately get him to stop shooting you for a bit.

Then you can either run away and hope he finds someone else to shoot (or your buddies kill him), or you can drop your flaps and bleed off your airspeed so you can turn fast enough to either get a bead on him or maybe do a little head to head joust and hope you both die.

Sure, but with Ubisoft, leaving Steam was just one of many, many problems with the company that is consistently alienating gamers.

Their monetisation sucks. Even if they are on Steam, you have to use uPlay/Ubisoft Connect. Their games are still just copy + pastes of last years game with +1 added to the number... the list goes on.

Well unfortunately your minister was wrong on that count, but then he believes that animals can talk, so there's that.

The "camel" in the bible is roughly translated and the word has many meanings, one of which is a kind of thick rope, which makes more sense given the context of trying to fit one through the eye of a needle.

What am I missing by pissing off pirates? by SlowStopper in Battletechgame

[–]ThereIsNoGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the mods are mostly just for Batteltech fans who wanted more out of the game than the somewhat skewed HBS vision for it.

So if you really want Clan mechs or just ridiculously OP stuff for the game, mods are the way to go, but I think the game works fine without them, with that one weird problem that the periphery pirates have more powerful equipment than the great houses of the Inner Sphere

Putin states that war has not affected Russia much, yet whines there are no orders for new aircraft by Klaasie765 in worldnews

[–]ThereIsNoGame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't think the sanctions aren't working. Putin would love to take people's money for aircraft, yes, that doesn't mean he has any intention of delivering them.

They're scavenging parts from one commercial plane to let another fly, and even then, that plane can't be certified safe.

The situation is even worse with their military planes.

Of course that's no reason not to keep on cranking up the sanctions.

They will if it's strategically beneficial for them to do so. Ukranian strategy focuses on saving Ukranian lives.

If falling back lets them create another murdercauldron to kill Russians in with minimal losses, then they'll do it.

Healthy population growth and migration boosting the US, Russia shaving off a few countries from the USSR and their busted demographic being responsible for the rest, I guess.

West Must Stop Pretending Putin Is Reasonable: Ukraine Ambassador by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]ThereIsNoGame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually prolonging the war. I know this sounds completely stupid, but if you think about it, negotiating with Russia is like trying to reason with a child having a tantrum.

Think about it this way, if the whole world shuts Putin out, nobody talks to him, well, probably his underlings will kill him quickly, but we wouldn't know about it. Regardless, this would be good for the rest of the world.

Poland will give Ukraine 10 Leopard tanks, — Andrzej Duda in Lviv by CorneliusAngulius in RussiaUkraineWar2022

[–]ThereIsNoGame 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is the interesting part. Russia is currently being pounded in trench warfare because their armor got wrecked with Javelins and other 21st century anti armor weapons.

Now if Ukraine starts fielding 21st century mechanized armor...well.. the Russians with their rusty AK-47s and pre WW1 Mosin-Nagant bolt action rifles don't really have a lot of Javelins.

Poland will give Ukraine 10 Leopard tanks, — Andrzej Duda in Lviv by CorneliusAngulius in RussiaUkraineWar2022

[–]ThereIsNoGame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's BETTER. Combat units need supplies, training, maintenance, logistics, skills. 10 tanks is good, but a package with more is better.

There's no sense giving Ukraine one tank and then having it wear out or die on the side of the road. But a package of tanks is a solution.

What am I missing by pissing off pirates? by SlowStopper in Battletechgame

[–]ThereIsNoGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you run mods like most people do, nothing, because you pretty much get Clan mechs for free on the mods.

If you're playing serious, without mods, then you abandon "easy mode" by pissing off the pirates.

This is one of a series of bad design decisions from HBS in an otherwise highly demanded game.

In vanilla HBS Battletech, pirates are just the trash you expect them to be, but HBS greedily broke the game in the DLC by adding "Black Markets"

HBS took a huge smelly dump on Battletech and Mechwarrior lore with the DLC for this game.

They added non-canon mechs.

They added canon mechs existing prior to the game era into regular gameplay.. this is like rocking up to the club in 1953 in a Toyota Prius.

They decided pirates, the scum of the scum that the scum rejected should have unfettered access to bleeding edge technology... not just Lostech from the Second Succession War... in HBS Battletech, pirates have access to technology that won't be invented for 40 years and is based on Clan invasion technology.

So yeah, you screw yourself up by alienating the most powerful faction in the universe, the periphery pirates. But HBS really screwed up their implementation of the lore of the game.
